Again, make of it what you want, but i've no reason to suspect that it's anything other than what it purports to be.
That said, i've no vested interest any which way about them, so if anyone's not happy with the info i have been given in the past then it's not going to offend me... ...but i don't have anything else in the way of images or whatever for the tracks that are being questioned & it's years since these came my way, so couldn't ask anyone in particular about them.
First of all : Thanks for all the additional information and pictures ! I'm really flabbergasted that these things exist. The bootleg contains a few tracks that I've never heard of before and I've been following and studying Duran's discography for more than 30 years now. The ASWI remixes may very well be commissioned. But the main point is that they are rather lame compared to the masterpieces Shep Pettibone made. They even seem to borrow elements from his mixes (the keyboard "stabs" from the US master mix). Another reason for my initial doubt that some these mixes are "official" is the fact Unleashed contains such a broad spectrum of unreleased Duran tracks : A view to a kill is from 1985 and Falling Down is 2007. It's almost impossible that these tracks got leaked from the same vault. My guess is that most of them were sold on Ebay in the past years and then compiled with love and dedication. Except for the error with Serious. The two mixes are exact duplicates. They even have exactly the same filesize as flacs. I wish the people who compiled this had gotten their hands on "Heart Of Gold" too. Then we could enjoy Duran's rendition in full instead of that 32 second snippet on youtube. Come to think of it : Maybe that track was considered for inclusion on Unleashed but didn't match up sound quality-wise with the rest of the tracks.

No probs... it's taken hours to track down some of the pics as all is in chaos, but all for the good if it helps people to make informed decisions. i can't speak as to why what's on the bootleg is on the bootleg as you're right, it does seem a bit of a hotch potch. Though, admittedly, (i) what else could you put on with AVTAK - so better to have a 1 track CD? ...& (ii) if they'd been split up then i assume there'd have had to have been bunches of filler that everyone's got &, instead of just questioning things, everyone would be f'd off with excessive profiteering just to get the odd tracks. Yeah, whilst i'm personally anti-paying for bootlegs & all for free sharing & whatnot, this stuff could potentially have been really milked over a few releases &, imho, it's really quite pleasing that it wasn't. Then, from what people seem to be saying (PMs as well as on the board itself), there appears to be an issue with some copies of the bootleg having a version of Serious duplicated whereas others don't - i've no idea why or how though. &, quite possibly, the people with a decent encode of HOG & the bootleg people are two differing subsets of fans?

[Edit] Whilst i think, my belief is that there's a misprint on the poster with Rick Ambrose's role being duplicated - i 'think' he's the Capitol contact, rather than the remixer; though i guess it could be vice versa(?). &, whilst naturally around a year later, the odd style does fit in with some other Capitol promos that are treated as genuine - such as the Music For A Brave World one from 87 (which i do actually own a copy of personally). So i would wager these are Dj remix service mixes (ultimix, direct hit etc) of the Pettibone Us mixes (rather than the euro house ones). So they could be semi official a la Paula Abdul releasing the Ultimix of Straight Up on her 1990 remix album, but their 'lack of quality' is down to the quality of the remixer and i doubt them had access to the multi tracks and stems.

Thanks pocketdemon, I had not seen the poster. Personally, I think blaahh is correct, they are from a DJ mixing service, which is a grey area. They are certainly not remixed in any way, just edited with loops of the Eurohouse mixes.

Did anyone get this already? I believe everyone who has received the 'mispressing' with the same Serious version on both track 3 and 10 are going to get this soon as well: Attachment Deleted

The timing seems a bit odd though..that question to John then the posts on the forum and now this.
I would say that a source from the band would have access to all of this.
I have always wondered how DD fan club gets their material. A lot of it could only come from the band.

One could wager the question to Katy may have been advertising...

One could wager the question to Katy may have been advertising... It is interesting, i wondered if the band were happy to leak! I had heard Katy went angry when someone asked her about Unleashed tracklisting. Remember what happened to dd.no? Let's bring Katy's attention to Unleashed and this would be the last thing we've got from the label, I imagine...
