I honestly don't see a problem here. It's people wanting to complain. I heard the same when they were working with Timbaland and the same when it was first announced Mark Ronson was joining on AYNIN.

"Lindsay and Ali did vocals for Duran Duran's new album. The band reached out to them because they know that in order to get people to listen to their new stuff and attract a younger demographic, they needed to do something that would get people to want to buy."
Sad if true (that the band believe this.) What's next? A collaboration with Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.

That is the most disappointing thing I have read in a long time. I seriously hope this 'insider' was just talking the girls up to make Lindsay and Ali appear more appealing to other musos than they really are. I really hope that didn't come straight from the horse's mouth. If that is simply the insider's opinion then I have news for him/her: Lindsay and Ali need Duran Duran a lot more than Duran Duran need them. But if Duran Duran themselves believe that to be true then I have a question for them. Did you need a gimmick when you released your last decent hit Ordinary World? Did you need popular young kids to appear on the track, or a guns-for-hire hit-making production team, or a controversial film clip featuring lesbians or nudity??? Or did you just release an amazing song with a beautiful melody, fantastic instrumentation, and heart-felt lyrics? Face it Duran, to young kids you look so old it's not funny. It's EXTREMELY unlikely you will ever have a major hit and be popular with a young demographic ever again. And if by some amazing piece of luck you do get recognition, it will be because you wrote a great tune that grabbed the public's attention, NOT who you worked with. Because regardless of which popular young artist you get on board, even if it is given some promotion and people get to hear it, the young kids are going to be asking who the hell are those old geezers working with <insert popular act here>. It's not going to be Duran Duran making the song popular, it's purely because of said act. I pray the insider is speaking crap and making stuff up. Because if Duran truly believe that then they are desperate, deluded, deranged, and not living on Planet Earth. Bop bop bop, bop bop bob bop bop.

Just how much of a draw is she to the "young folk"

...or a controversial film clip featuring lesbians or nudity??? The text isn't that clear. It says "Some people will do anything to sell records"

Do you know what Coolbarn. You do make sense sometimes Cool, thanks. I think... I want to see the band back on the floor making real music again...from the heart, soul and minds of Duran Duran. Totally agree. Every time I hear that Duran want to work with somebody hip and current to try and sell more records, or receive a mix-tape to hear "what the kids are listening to" a small part of me dies inside, and a large part of me thinks "Oh my God guys, grow up, get a clue, you're so much better than that". Honestly Duran Duran have made an amazing living doing a job they love and have lives that 99.99% of people can dream about. Even today they are worth more money than most people you or I will ever know, and have been to the top of the charts and their profession. DURAN DURAN DON'T HAVE TO MAKE ONE MORE SONG IN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES AND THEY WILL STILL LIVE MORE COMFORTABLY THAN THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ON THIS EARTH. Surely they're at the stage now when they're making music because it's what they love doing, taking new music on the road that makes them happy, and not because they want to see their name in lights again and be guys in their mid-50s appealing to teenagers??? Charts be damned. We all know that sales do not equal quality, otherwise McDonalds would be regarded as the finest restaurant in the world. If Duran Duran keep doing ridiculous gimmicks and working with ridiculous people just to appeal to a younger audience, then I'll drop them quicker than a bad habit. I don't care that they are my sentimental favourite band of all time and the musical soundtrack to my life; I expect that as I age (relatively) gracefully and maturely that they will do so as well. At this stage in their careers they should be writing the best music they have ever done; theoretically they are wiser people, and better songwriters and musicians than they have ever been. They should know their strengths and weaknessess. They should be like a fine wine. Before All You Need Is Now I didn't know if Duran really were improving. Their first two albums were amazing, but the ones in-between were of varying degrees of quality. Thankfully after the disaster of Red Carpet Massacre the boys had a total reversal of form and produced their best record in 25 years. Then we hear that they are working with John Frusciante, Nile Rodgers, and Mark Ronson, and once again I think they are on the up and up. At the beginning of this year I was excited as a pig in poo. But now we hear they have binned a lot of their work and started again. And now an album that should have been released well and truly by now is pushed back to next year. And the final, stinking, cherry on the cake is we hear Duran Duran are working with Lindsay Lohan because "they know that in order to get people to listen to their new stuff and attract a younger demographic, they needed to do something that would get people to want to buy". Like I said I hope this is just a no-name insider making stuff up to make the Lohan girls appear better than they really are. I think this is the case, and I hope it is the case. It is so beneath them I can't see Duran Duran ever admitting to this. However if Duran Duran come out and say it's true, they are that desperate to be popular with young kids they'll do anything to have a hit, then I wash my hands of them. If it's true - thanks for the amazing ride Duran, I'm just going to remember all the good times when you made music for the right reasons.

I wish DD didn't feel the need to embrassingly court a Hot 100 audience, but how have DD survived over 20 years without a major international hit?? That's right by working with people like the Tims and Lohan to ensure publicity both for the album and more importantly, the tour their bread and butter. Let's face it, if The Hunger Games went in the US charts at 18 selling about 20,000 copies with a host of hip and current performers, how many do you think the new DD one will sell if it follows the pattern of the last two releases by coming in late20s/early 30s? About 10,000?? They'll be lucky to break even on DD 14. Rhodes and Le Bon are survivors, they're doing what they think is best to keep the DD machine financially viable and rolling on. Having Nile, Ronson And John F on board will attract attention from the music press, Lohan will briefly attract attention from the wider press.
