Might be a bootleg just as the Mexican 12" of The Reflex (in red and green vinyl) could be a bootleg. I stress 'might' as i am not sure, but... It surpises me noone ever seen, heard or documented these variations. Still cool records of course!

Might be a bootleg just as the Mexican 12" of The Reflex (in red and green vinyl) could be a bootleg. I stress 'might' as i am not sure, but... It surpises me noone ever seen, heard or documented these variations. Still cool records of course! Never heard of a green or red Mexican 12" of The Reflex! I looked at Guille's site and he doesn't have this red vinyl of Notorious. And yes, you would think that by now someone would have said that they have this in their collection. So, it's one of these possibilities: 1. It's a bootleg. The person who has this had access or knows someone who has the ability to cut/press records and did this as a one off. This is possible, even down to recreating the label on the record. Once you've done that, you get yourself a sleeve that the black vinyl came in and voila. 2. It's a mispress. At the time this record was going to be pressed, there could have been some red disks in the production stack and the album was accidentally pressed on red vinyl and were meant to be discarded. This happens more often than you think. Take for instance the U.S. red vinyl juke box only 7" of Love Me Do by the Beatles that was pressed in the early '90s. This was an error because red biscuits (as they are called) were accidentally left in the production stack from the pressing of a prior artist. These red vinyls go for quite a bit of money. 3. It was pressed in very limited quantities as a promo and only now has one surfaced. If this is true, then knowledge of this record would have been around for some time. I know this red vinyl raises some eyebrows, but it's only come to light in the past year or so that there's an orange vinyl pressing of Into the Gap by the Thompson Twins from South Africa that I never knew existed! It's listed in Discogs and there seem to be a few people who have it. It's been 30 years since this record came out and knowledge of its existence has just been made known - so you have to wonder - is it a bootleg, was it a mispress, was it a limited edition or was it done up for promo reasons?

Yes, those 2 coloured Reflexes do exist! It is rumoured that a BLUE vinyl pressing of Wild Boys - also from Mexico - exists as well, but that one hasn't surfaced (yet).
Oh... Don't be misguided by the label which mentions New Moon On Monday in Spanish as this is actually the b-side (lado 2) of the Mexican 12" pressing of The Reflex.

I don't think it's very likely that a red vinyl was pressed in Chechoslovakia in 1986 for promo reasons. It was still a communist country at that time. But I could be wrong of course. Maybe there are other examples that prove me wrong.

From some Beatles records there are South American coloured vinyl albums because employees of record plants made them for fun in their spare time. Maybe this is something simular.

Maybe there are other examples that prove me wrong. That is my opinion also. It is almost as if was pressed in Yugoslavia at the time, which is not possible. Here are the matrix numbers. Can aynone please compare these with the black LP edition. Matrix Side A : C OE 5529/A Side B : C OE 5530/A...

My black copy has same matrix nos. but on side A "5" is added behind "A" and on side B "7" is added behind "B".
