Hey everyone - curious about everyone's thoughts about some Arcadia songs...
The song el Diablo ends with a swoop of sound; if you listen very closely, what follows is a second or two of very quiet sounds, like a few bars of notes played. You have to listen closely, however, to hear it.
On most early pressings, this sound plays at the end of el Diablo; on later pressings, this sound plays at the beginning of Lady Ice.
Question is...which song do you think this second or two of sound truly belongs to?

i always thought that was the end of el diablo. the synth line sounds like a delay line run through feedback to make it repeat. then manipulated and shaped and then it comes to and end with a woosh. then you hear REEEEE-ARHHHH sound of the strings coming in and that is the start of LADY ICE.
that is how it seems to be indexed on my 2010 cd as well...

The entire recording is outstanding; the vocals are some of Simon's finest.

Question is...which song do you think this second or two of sound truly belongs to? This is really a good question, and I have also noticed this ages ago. Possibly a good 'AskKaty'...? To me it is pretty clear that the 'woosh' sound belongs to the end of EL DIABLO and then the 'REEEEE-ARHHHH' sound of the strings coming in is the start of LADY ICE. Same opinion as 'figital'!!! But you are right the first CD issues have the 'REEEEE-ARHHHH' at the end of EL DIABLO, I also got a confirmation ages ago that the 7" promo-single of EL DIABLO plays this LADY ICE intro as well! On the other hand EL DIABLO ends on the 2010 remastered Box with the 'woosh', but more confirming to me is the fact that LADY ICE on the original (and also on the DVD) Arcadia-VHS-compilation has this 'REEEEE-ARHHHH' sound at the beginning!!!

i've asked "Ask Katy" this question, but nuthin...
but do you hear the very very very VERY quiet sounds before the REEE-ARHHH? That's really what I'm curious about. On all releases, those sounds appear BETWEEN the Whoosh and the REEE-ARHHH....question is, which song do they belong too?
Agree though, two of the coolest recordings ever!

I did ask as well and it was sent to Nick. We'll see what comes back.

(personally, I think it's el Diablo - seems more fitting as an ending to me, but what do I know?!)

Ah, now I know what you mean! My opinion is also that they belong to EL DIABLO... And yeah the whole record still is fantastic! And these two songs are brilliant!

Received the 'answer', not definitive but it's a lead:
I think it is almost certainly from the end of of El Diablo. It is not from the beginning of Lady Ice. I would need to listen again to see if I can remember what we used.
