There is NO comparison. Duran is way better than A-Ha. Duran has had an over 30 year career with multiple hits whereas A-Ha are a one hit wonder. End of story

I never followed a-ha, but I loved their first two albums. I know they continued to release new music up to 2009 and were successful in Europe. I have to respect them for that. People who dismiss a-ha are being just as bad as people who dismiss Duran as merely an 80s band. Nothing would infuriate me more than me telling someone that my favorite band is Duran Duran and them dismissively saying, "Didn't they break up in the 80s?"
And I also think Scoundrel Days is an EXCELLENT album, one of my non-Duran favorites.

The only difference between Duran Duran and A-ha on cemmercial terms is that A-ha never broke through in the USA. If they had their sales would be about the same as Duran's.

I like DD better, but I saw A-ha with Rick Astley in Auckland earlier this month, good band. Played Hunting High and Low all the way through and then a few other hits at the end. Big crowd in an outdoor venue.

Actually, sorry I beg to differ - A-Ha seems to have gotten way more respect the last few years - not bad for a band riding so much off their *one hit wonder* They are definitely better musicians. Their keyboardist can actually play. Instruments. Musical. Only three guys Pal still holds the world-record for longest note held. His vocal range remains better than SLB's Remember, they are NORWEGIAN - I can't even name another band from Norway. Like ABBA, in the beginning, they didn't even understand what they were signing, LOL their story is fascinating, to the uninitated: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-hawhoosh!

Until SLB brings back the upper range for OW outro *everyworld is my world...* etc then sorry... LOL
The one keyboard riff will indelibly remain more famous than all of Nick's combined. Fact.
