MyNick7- *applaudes* Way to go!
Pocketdemon- I for one am not on FB. I get my DD info on here & on Twitter! I personally dispise FB! I get that it's been a good tool for promotion for companies & people trying to spread their word on products. But w/people communicating- they get this sort of tunnel vision and out of sight-out of mind mentality that they either forget or are too lazy to write to those who aren't on FB.
For example, with this latest news on DD being in SF, I decided to pass along some links & photos thru cell texts to the Duranies I have in my phone. The #1 response I got from some of them was- "Oh I already saw that on FB!" Sorry but that just gets me & just shows me that they didn't bother to share with me. They didn't take the time to share stuff w/me like I've done with them! *Throws hands up in air* I'm kinda fed up with that type of crap!
So you aren't weird cuz you aren't on FB. FB is just more of a conglomeration of forums/message boards all in 1 platform. Why be on FB when Mark's board got all the good stuff anyway?!
Sorry for the FB rant but I've been getting some of this crap this weekend.
Well, it's some combination of not wanting to give my secrets away to all & sundry, whilst being uber-aware that my life's really not that exciting & no one gives a monkey's what i had for dinner or what pub i went to or what TV shows i'm watching or whatever... There's enough noise out there without adding stupid amounts more imho.
(The one exception was tagging myself in a couple of the official Wilton's Hall photos - but that was just me showing off of course... The only saving grace being that it was showing off to people who mostly don't care about D2.)
Tbh, the thing that would annoy me more is the dismissive attitude you're describing, as that's really quite shonky imho... Okay, i'm not a huge one for online photos - more official vids & TV/radio shows & whatnot instead - but i've never had that kind of reaction from the people i deal with.
Okay, there's times when people will email me about stuff that's already been archived & whatnot previously, but i've always made it clear to everyone that i'd rather be told several times & things are definitely seen/heard than anyone miss out - & ttbomk then the people i deal with regularly feel the same & accept my occasional cock ups; as none of us are infallible of course.
(i'm not 100% sure why people email me & then it's my job to email the whole group with some of the things - it must be a tradition or an old charter or something)
& the same with a couple of people & eBay & discogs & whatnot, where it's much better that someone tells me that there's something up that they believe i need & would be really interested in & it be something in the collection already than not be told.
Anyway, that's gone slightly off track; it's past 6.20am & haven't slept...
i guess the point i was aiming for that, whilst i know you seem to be more annoyed about not having been told about stuff by others than what my problem would have been, i can certainly understand why you're feeling the way you are &, whilst obviously not my doing, i'm sorry that people have made you feel that way over the last days.
Otherwise, of course we need more than this board - it's just that i don't think that FB & having all the friends on there in the world is the answer Duran-wise...
Well, just having a few key people (who've unluckily gotten trapped in my orbit along the way) & email is much more workable for me.
*Applaudes* THANK YOU x 10!
That's what I've been saying about the email deal. Apparently to these people, it's gone away along with the pony express & homing pigeons! It doesn't take but a few seconds to highlight-copy-paste into an email. I've always have done it. But again- it's just pure laziness on some peoples' part! *Thumbs down*
