Hi Lu, I completely understand your frustration, but honestly I'd rather wait 3-4 years and have it be worth the wait. One of Duran's more recent albums appeared to be half-baked and I didn't like the result; had they spent more time fixing stuff that obviously needed repair then maybe it would have been more enjoyable? Remember, as we have discussed in other threads the guys aren't single and in their teens/early twenties any more when they were desperate for world domination. They've had their stint as most popular band in the world, made more money than they ever thought possible, and have great families and friends. There is no incentive for them to suffer the burnout they did when younger any more, and I know I would probably be exactly the same. Be patient my young padawan, we've been waiting for years, so now months won't seem too bad. It's just a case of finally seeing the finishing line in sight and we're desperate for the end. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. Personally I'd rather wait 4 years and receive a masterpiece each time, than wait two years and receive an album where I could take half, and the other half I could leave. Duran Duran are better than that. But like you I'm starting to really look forward to see what the band have in store for us, and whether Nile Rodgers, Mark Ronson, and John Frusciante will be as amazing as I hope

Hey coolbarn!
I agree to an extent. We all suspect that Nick tends to over do things and could probably work on a song ad nauseam, so more time may not necessarily mean better quality. In fact, I've often wondered what certain albums might have sounded like if they had just zipped through them, down and dirty, working on instinct, not over thinking things, and certainly not overproducing. Then there's the other issue of the album sitting for a while til the guys either shop around for a record company, or the record company wants to wait to release it at an optimal time in the future. It's happened this way for the past few albums now.
But I completely get your point. I do agree that waiting another few months ain't gonna kill me! Still very optimistic and looking forward to hearing what the guys have cooked up!

i find it funny that people are saying "they are killing the momentum" - what momentum? no one knows about "Pressure Off" yet except for the people in here! LOL
ask people on the street if they know what Pressure Off is.

I wonder what kind of work the new studio visit will consist of? If mixing was complete how much more do they really need to do unless some lyrics have changed? Lyrically I wasn't all that excited about Pressure Off...perhaps others felt the same way?
My concern with Pressure Off is with the second person approach to the lyrics ("It's up to YOU now..."). It comes across as preachy to me. I'd rather he sing it first person ("It's up to ME now..."), which is more introspective...

These are young women who are in their late 20's. Here in the states.
I named some of the following...
Duran Duran: "nope" The Police: "yeah...think so (though they couldnt tell me any of their songs)" New Order: "nope" Pet Shop Boys" "nope" The Smiths: "nope"
it's all about Beyonce and stuff to them.

I had a similar experience at work...went to lunch with a group of friends...ranging from mid 20s to around 50. And granted we don't have a lot in common musically. But when music came up I referenced The Smiths...no clue...How Soon is Now?...no clue - so when back from lunch I sent the link to them all on Youtube figuring they might not know the name, but know the song. And one guy...one guy, said 'I think I know that one'. Not sure how it is possible to not know that song - not have heard it over the last 25 years...but apparently it is possible.

Wow, I would have thought at least a few of them would have watched Charmed growing up. I know Love Spit Love's cover was used for the show, but at least they surely should have recognized the tune?

Honestly, I get the same response with the "kids" I go to school with and work with all the time.
That's one reason I love doing my 80s radio show. Introduce people to a world of awesome music!
