Synths are over produced, only the chorus is balanced. The rest the synths are too loud and simons voice too soft. Definitely not a hit. Sorry. Too long, too complex. People are NOT going to dig it I'm afraid. It's like Nick suddenly is diagnosed with ADHD. Very disappointed here, except for that killer chorus. I know what you mean - somehow it feels like they're trying to hard for the obvious hit - the chorus is great - but is that enough? It's a great Duran single, but is it a chart-topping splendor the way Get Lucky was? I'm glad they've officially departed the "let's do another Ordinary World ballad type lead off single" train.

I've heard the whole song, and the verses are completely guitar led - it actually starts with a Nile Rodgers rhythm guitar riff! The signature Nile rhythm guitar chords are well up there in the mix during the verse too, helped by the sparse vocals. with the texture only thinning in the chorus to make room for the layers of b/v's. The middle 8 is to behold! Nick's playing distorted EP's and Janelle gets a vocal solo.
This is track is on fire...

Finally succeeded in downloading it from Juno. PayPal did not work, had to enter CC details which I did not like, but at least I have it. Going to listen to it now.

i wish there was a hard rock guitar line in there somewhere - even Notorious had a part... c'mon you have too many synths in that verse... this after listening on loop-replay on rdio... tenth or so time...

The Juno Downloads link works, even for the US peeps! Downloaded and listening to right now... Shoddy way of distribution this. Rdio must nor work for us Brits. Don't know why they don't just release it to Itunes.

Yeah, I'm not sure why they didn't just say when it was coming out or have it released on YouTube/retailers at the exact same time. I probably would've just downloaded it off iTunes, given that I already have an account there. That being said, Juno's options of having it in 320 MP3 and WAV are convenient for those who would prefer those versions as well.

There's distortion guitar overdubs in the verse, but you're not going to get leads. For one thing, there's no room in the mix! :-) Also this is a funk record - it's all about the groove baby

Have listened to the track a few times and I really like it! It is definately Duran at their best, their best single since Come Undone I would say (or maybe Nice if the Eric Prydz Radio Mix counts, despite it never having been played on the radio ). Will it be a hit? Well, nobody knows how that works nowadays. Without some heavy promotion it will probably go nowhere, but I don't mind. I do not think the synths are too loud or the guitars are too low in the mix, it sounds like a very balanced and well produced track to me. Looking forward to the album again, despite the dreadful artwork Hope they will make an extended version of Pressure Off, liked Get Lucky's extended mix very much and PO would also sound great in an extended mix. And they should release it on vinyl.
