Sorry but a-ha's first single under the make-up way better than this song....I don't get all the love in Europe for a-ha--they are a one hit band where every song sounds the same...Duran thinks outside the box--aha still in the box since 1985....just my opinion...

Not at all typical sounding. If it was, I would have loved their last 6 albums. I can barely stand them outside of a couple tracks here and there. This sounds like the a-ha album I've been waiting 27 years for. for once in a longt time i can say Duran Duran have made a much better album than a-ha. Guitar or not:-) Nonsense. PG is HORRIBLE. I haven't liked anything from a-ha after Stay on These Roads until now. Cast in Steel sounds killer! Also, the last 5 samples on that video are from the 2nd disc of bonus tracks that mainly consists of demo tracks and remixes from their last album. I don't count them as part of the album. If one didn't know that it would feel like the album drags on and on during it's 2nd half, but it doesn't once you remove those extras. I also already had an a-ha thread going with a link to the official album sampler. Why is everyone posting on this but only one other person posted on my topic? duranduranboard.proboards.com/thread/34220/ha

I also already had an a-ha thread going with a link to the official album sampler. Why is everyone posting on this but only one other person posted on my topic? duranduranboard.proboards.com/thread/34220/haFirst and foremost, you need to be aware that I'm an A-ha fan who owns every studio and live album that they've released, so I'm not an A-ha knocker. Quoting Robert De Niro from the movie This Boys Life, 'I know a thing or two about a thing or two' about A-ha. They were the soundtrack to me and my wife's life..still are. We met just as 'Scoundrel Days' began its life. Truly a brilliant album, that I play over and over. I've only seen them live once during the 'farewell' tour. I paid a lot of money for front row as I wanted myself and my wife to savour it, knowing we would never see them live again...and that's where my gripe is. Don't get me wrong, I love A-Ha but these tracks I've heard have done nothing for me like 'Foot of the Mountain' did. The tracks are very sub standard and I'm thinking, 'they reformed for this?' When I say 'typical sounding' A-ha, I mean just with Morten's voice it can be labelled as 'typical'. If you hear him on his solo projects, it's A-Ha. It's the voice. I don't think you've really listened to the albums to just say the last six are not A-Ha. It's impossible. Have you not heard 'Foot of the Mountain' or 'Analogue'? I'm not taking your comments seriously because you wouldn't say the last 6 were not typical A-ha. Have you got the last 6 albums? It seems you're just an 'eighties' A-ha fan and not moving with the times. Just like with Duran. Stuck in a time warp. So that's why I'm not taking you seriously mate.. That's ridiculous. Does a person need to take a photo of themself with the albums holding up a sign with their username written on it? LOLOL! I never once said the last 6 weren't typical a-ha. I said Cast in Steel is not typical a-ha, because you said it was. If it WAS typical a-ha it would sound more like the last 6 albums & not like the 1st three. Of course I've heard Analogue & Foot of the Mountain - I don't like either of them outside of a small handful of tracks. Just because a person doens't like ALL of a bands output doesn't mean they're stuck in a time warp. What a silly thing to say. Yuo must be one of those fans who believe if you don't like EVERYthing a band does... you're not actually a fan. Not taking me seriously? Why? Just because I have a different viewpoint and/or don't like the same exact things as you? If anything is not to be taken seriously here, it's your silly comment about time warps & the likes. Foot of the Mountain did ZERO for me, this one does a great deal for me. This is more like the a-ha that caused me to fall in love with them (as is Morten's Out of My Hands). Is there some sort of issue with me liking that side of a-ha? Or are you the super-fan that "knows a thing or two about a thing or two" about them - so it's only your opinion that counts & everyone else's is not to be taken seriously? C'mon man. Give me a break.

Give me a break. Come back to me when you've grown up. I'll then have an adult discussion with you. Right now you're really not making sense about not liking 6 (6!) A-ha albums in a row. Rediculous. Oh, by the way, yes, I'm a super fan. I cut Morten's toe nails once a week and peel him a grape when he asks. Grown up? Yeah buddy, because I'm the one who came and trashed on someone else's opinion with "Saw them front row", "Own every studio and live album", and a good amount of other "Super fan" jibber jabber. Talk about ridiculous. Take a good look in the mirror. Just. Wow. If disliking 6 complete albums in a row isn't making sense to you I don't know what else to say other than you must have some sort of learning disability. I like a anywhere from 2-4 off of them - but not so much as entire albums. Your opinion does not = fact & neither does mine but it seems someones a little butt hurt about accepting it. Now off to bed little one, with no supper. Tut-Tut. Maybe you wont bump your head and be so grouchy when you wake up next time.

The thing about a-ha is that there is usually a lot tension between the members. Look at this latest interview from Paul,-
Was recording this album difficult?
- The first album after we started over again, Minor earth, major sky (2000), went pretty well in fact. Everything after that has been demanding.
- And this one?
- Quite demanding too. But now we are more used to it.
- What do you think about the result?
- No, well, it is very hard to think of this as a-ha, because it seems to me that there are three different things – which one calls a-ha. It often ends up like this, and many bands do it this way. But I do miss the feeling of us being in the same studio, working on the same song in real time.
- Didn’t you record anything together on this record?
- Errr, no. No.

Have heard the entire album. I'm sticking with the initial view I had after hearing all of the samples. Best they've done since Stay on These Roads.

Boring Aha-album... Aha are taking no risks with this. can see why it would appeal to those not liking DDs Paper Gods which is the exact opposite of this.
(listened to this album 4 times in a row, gotta put on Paper Gods now!)
