No I don't mind the extra track but if japanese CD's were the same price maybe all editions of the deluxe album would have had that 4th extra track.
It will be interesting to make a new tracklist when all the tracks have become available :
I can't imagine The Universe Alone not being the very last track of the album. Even more : the several minutes of total silence I leave after that song is finished becomes an integral part of the album for me.

No musician feels 'pushed' to write an extra track so all releases 'only' have 3 bonus tracks, which is already quite a bit imho. Nope, for me - also as a collector - i am pleased to see the Japanese release being different. If i may put in a request, that would be a Japanese vinyl release.... But that is not going to happen.

And it seems On Evil Beach is very 80s sounding... How do you know this? Has anyone heard the bonus tracks yet??

This raises the question why the japanese CD's are so expensive. They could also lower the price so they wouldn't need to include an extra track. This is actually quite simple. Japan as an island has few natural resources. Materials like metals and components for synthesizing plastics have to be imported, rather than just mined locally. Obviously, CDs use both aluminum and plastics (polycarbonate material, to be precise). Since these materials have to be imported, the manufacturing cost of CDs among many other things increases. This extra cost is passed down to the consumer. So they can't just lower the price. They could just stop manufacturing in Japan and import all music but WE DON'T want that!

This actually makes sense to me now. You always hear the reason for why extra tracks or how the CDs are more expensive there, but I've never heard a decent explanation as to why that was. Much appreciated! I've also heard that CDs are still selling well over there and that digital downloads aren't really gaining traction yet, which is interesting.

Even more : the several minutes of total silence I leave after that song is finished becomes an integral part of the album for me. I agree..it's a time for reflection. THAT song deserves respect and a long period of silence..for a masterpiece that has the capability to bring out my emotions it's only fitting there should be a long break between PG and the next album. The last time a Duran track made me feel like this was 'Ordinary World'. It's up there with the very best. Great someone brings this up... I haven't heard Northern Lights yet (although the title implies something beautiful, one of the things i want to see in reallife at least once), but maybe The Universe Alone should've been the last track of any edition of Paper Gods. I immediately felt it is a brilliant piece with a brilliant ending explaining what the song is about. This one can bring me to tears, that is how much i am moved by it. But i don't think there should be a long break between Paper Gods and the next album. Let's not go there while Paper Gods is not even released yet!!!!
