I remember an interview from May '95 - Nick said that we can expect a new album at the beginning of '96. and? Nothing, I only added more info about those times... If there were no problems with John, we would have "Medazzaland" at the beginning of '96.

If there were no problems with John, we would have "Medazzaland" at the beginning of '96. oh ok - well you quoted my post, so I was wondering what you meant. this is ALSO not true. First off - they were contractually not allowed to release another album for at least 1 year after "Thank You". So May, 1996 would have been the earliest - however - John didn't leave until January of 1997. The album was NOT finished in 1996 even by the end of the year. In Feb of 1997 they decided to re-record John's basslines on most of the tracks and also decided to write 3 more songs as a 3-peice. These were "Electric Barbarella", "Buried In The Sand" and "Silva Halo". Then there were delays due to Anthony J Resta's mixing problems, i dont know the whole story there, but supposedly he messed up the mixes, lost the originals, etc... all i know is that probably took the album out a few months - maybe it would have been released in June, 1997 instead of October, 1997. Again though - Medazzaland was never going to be a pure rock album. As far back as late 1994 the seeds of "Medazzaland", "Out Of My Mind", "Be My Icon" and others were already recorded.

If he couldn't be part of the music scene, he wouldn't have released 3 solo records and toured them along with the Terroristen project. he was equally as busy. he just didnt wanna be in DD anymore...

Probably John's problems affected the results of recording sessions. In a bad way.

Probably John's problems affected the results of recording sessions. In a bad way. nope. most of what you hear on Medazzaland was recorded right after the Wedding Album tour was finished in 1994.

I always wished PL You was the first single off Medazzaland. I believe at the time (in 1995) Medazzaland was supposed to be a lot rockier and kinda more punky sounding album - a perfect follow up to the Wedding Album. DD were going through this hard rock/punk phase in '95. Remember HLTW'95? And Simon's outfits? Then once breakbeat/big beat stuff (like Prodigy and Chemical Brothers) became big in US and Europe by '96, guys changed their minds...and the album got delayed until the end of '97. Shame that stuff like Plastic Girl & Sinner or Saint never made it on the album.. this is not true... i have a demo tape dated September 1995 - not the typical nice sounding demos we all have - I have a tape from someone who was at Privacy (Warren's House) playing all the instrumental demos (no vocals). P.L.You is on there, but so is Midnight Sun, Medazzaland, Out Of My Mind, Who Do You Think You Are, etc... I can tell you the album was almost the same at that point as to the final product we got. There was a lot of synths, mellow songs, etc... I also have a few songs that I dont think anyone ever heard (unless you have these recordings - which i know some of you do. These songs include "Magick Pill" and "Tabula Rasa". Anyway - the album was NEVER going to be a more "rockier" album than what we got really. Can you post links to Magick Pill and Tabula Rasa? Would love to hear these. Had no idea these demos were available. What do they sound like??

What I can tell you is that these demos are pretty hardcore, rough guitars, but a little more FUN than the Medazzaland album.. more in line with "P.L.You" and "Sinner Or Saint" actually.
