I understand. Perhaps I have been exposed to too much of this type dialog and it's left me constantly ignoring the rude things, assuming the person must be being ironic because if they're not they're inceadible jerks. Maybe its jerky even if it is ironic. Either way. I just thought he thought he was being funny. I think the default mode with duranies is the defensive....at least you tried to rise above! I'm clearly below that LOL! That's often my default mode too, however I tend to put my sensitivities on hold when presented with irony or sarcasm as I find them entertaining. But that writer doesn't really deserve anyone's rage because (imo) his little blurb really meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. Considering how great reviews for their shows have been he really just exposed his ignorance.

This guy's TONE is what bothered me. He DOES still think of them as inferior and makes it abundantly clear that this is not what people should be looking for, but IF you are, then FYI they are playing this show. He insults their current efforts by saying they are STILL not as cool as the Cure. Uhm, sorry, but the Cure is pretty well over by most people's standards these days. Their sales and tour records can't be near Duran's in recent years. Nothing wrong with the band, just saying, you know?

Sure, he was trying to be funny...but it's easy to try to be funny while doing so mockingly, and I thought his intent was pretty clear. But also to zealous's point, in the grand scheme of things, his snarky announcement doesn't end up standing up to the great reviews that keep pouring in, so hopefully this guy stays irrelevant. FWIW, my fiancee and I have been tracking DD and Cure tickets for a while...they're both at the same venue in Dallas with the same seating arrangement...we decided to splurge on great seats to one stadium show this summer, and Cure tickets have generally been about $100-150 more than DD tickets for roughly the equivalent seats that we were eyeing. Even though we've both been bigger Cure fans over the years, something told us that we should try for DD instead, and boy are we glad we did! We got a good enough deal that we're still considering Cure tickets if they come down enough...but now with the announcement of the Oklahoma (something about seeing Duran Duran in Durant is appealing...) and San Antonio shows, considering those as well...ah, budget, schmudget!
