What in the world is she thinking? I'm speechless. Would you do something like that? I'd certainly not. As posted on MSN.com... Now that's a serious labor of love
Associated Press
Chicago school teacher Colleen Pavelka knows how much her husband loves the Bears. Apparently, she loves him even more.
Colleen chose to have the birth of their second child induced a few days early so Mark Pavelka could attend Sunday's NFC Championship showdown between the Bears and the New Orleans Saints.
The baby was due Monday. But when Colleen went in for an appointment Friday afternoon, her doctors told her she could opt for an early delivery. She decided to do so.
After nearly six hours of labor, 8-pound, 9-ounce Mark Patrick Pavelka was born Friday night.
Colleen Pavelka plans to catch the game on the plasma screen TV in her hospital room, while baby Mark Patrick is bundled up in the Bears receiving blanket his grandmother bought him for Christmas.

What ever happen to letting babies come when they were ready?
I have no words.

I guess I should have little to say though. I opted to induce with my second because my doc was going on vacation through the week of my due date. I've never felt so pressured and nervous in my life. I cried uncontrollably when I walked into the hospital that morning....a day that should have been totally happy. Inducements suck.

This also means that during the super bowl....she will have to get outside help, because dare she disturb her husband during the game. He might give the baby a look during half-time. Also, what about other sports?

That's so stupid - down right dumb - you can bet a player might even miss a game, even a playoff game if their wife was in labour.
The husband should pay dearly for this, I suggest that he volunteer to stay awake at night holding the baby and let the wife rest for the next 6 months.

Remember when you'd hear stories about athletes or musicians missing a game or a show they were supposed to play in b/c their wife had gone into labor?? I suppose that shouldn't happen, now...what with induced labor and planned c-sections and all.

I heard loud and clear whoever said inducement sucks--I had it done three times, neither of the three my choice. I was two weeks overdue, all three times, and had to not only have the labor induced but then had to have a continuous stream of Pitocin to keep the labor progressing. By the time all three of my children were born I needed not only an obstetrician but also an exorcist, and I am pretty sure that I threatened the life of everyone in the room, including my husband and my mother. (I actually said "Shut the f___ up!!" to my own mother.) Told one of the docs exactly what he could do with his needle and stitches, and when Caroline was born I bruised Bill's wrist, I twisted it so bad.......my shortest labor was eleven hours and, regretfully, all I wanted to do right after the kids were born was hold them, feed them the first time, roll over on my stomach (ah, that was GREAT, after six months) and GO TO SLEEP!!!! Everytime I hoped labor would start on its own, and everytime the two week mark came and went, and the doctor would insist on inducement, for safety of the baby......and everytime the 'induce' word came up, the torrent of tears came on. It truly is NOT the ideal way to have a baby.
Call me a beeaatch. I'd have told him he could stick that football game where the sun don't shine.......and I don't mean wrapped up in that cute little Bear's receiving blanket--but he could certainly stick it in one of those dirty diapers Mommy is changing.
