I've started chatting with other members about the John Warwicker enamel pin - I had the yellow one, now I have 2 black ones, a blue/purplish one and another yellow that really cracked. Another black one arrived today. I have several of the Rio ones, all real bad - they shouldn't have even tried its too complicated. so here's my question, what is the earliest enamel pin? I have all the regular badges, but prefer the enamel ones Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Firstly, as covered a couple of months back with the official Rio one having contacted a specialist enamel restoration company, the ones like these aren't enamel, but instead use a cheap plastic resin filler.
Then there's no evidence i've ever seen that the ones you've pictured are official - & comparing them to both the known official & unofficial badges from the time then i am as certain as i can be that they're not.
So the earliest point would probably be Nov/Dec 81 if they were first sold as bootleg merch outside the shows - but, given the numbers of them, i suspect they were instead just cheap junk sold in stores, & hence it's more likely they're at least slightly later.
Now, without being an expert on how badges are constructed, the first known ones which are actually enamel (& official) are either -
- the round black/gold SS style & the rectangular white/red/silver ones from the CM tour.
(i'm simply not 100% that the 81 ones are enamel vs some unknown process - but they're definitely not cheap plastic ones though)
- or either the blue Villa or red promo itsisk? style badges from 83.
(i suspect the red one was later, as the colour better matches the version of the logo on the 7&TRT sleeve)
Whilst the only official pretend enamel/plastic resin badge i am certain of is the shaped Rio one...
...although i wouldn't be completely surprised if the thin Arena style ones were also not enamel.
