I have to agree that to me it seems like a lackluster release and a whole lot of money, effort and attention given on their part to something us fans haven't been screaming for.
Arena was never a favorite of mine, especially after hearing the MSG 84 concert which to me sounds vastly superior. Maybe not fidelity wise, but certainly the MSG recording has the real feel of a great live performance. Whereas the Arena release always sounded way overproduced and overly cleaned up. And just adding a couple of songs to the release doesn't sound that enticing.
However, all that said, I am curious to see how they will remix or remaster the songs. Will it be more true to the "live" sound, or will it just be tweaking what Arena sounded like. And what will the packaging be like, aside from the colored double vinyl? Will it have a significant booklet with the Denis O'Regan photos?
I can see this more as part of a larger re-issue, like as part of a box set for their 40th anniversary, and they just sneak this in among many other new, undiscovered treasures. But as a standalone it seems a little anti-climactic, and an odd choice for the Record Store Day release if it turns out to be that.

Again: We are talking about As The Lights Go Down 2-LP - not an Arena reissue. I don‘t understand the discussion about Arena being polished, overproduced to a degree that this album lost its „live“ feel. ATLGD is a true live album!

Three sided might be the original film then. Wonder whether on Warners too.

For those curious, there is a picture with part of the track listing... The other side (side 4) might be laser etched with some sort of design as usually that's what they do with that blank side. Hmm...colored vinyl as well!

Well, I'm a sucker for packaging so I'll probably seek this out. I'll probably never drop a needle on it, but I'll definitely oogle over the art.
Edited to add: Notice how the color scheme of pink and baby blue match the Paper Gods art.

I don‘t understand the discussion about Arena being polished, overproduced to a degree that this album lost its „live“ feel. ATLGD is a true live album! All the vocals, if not every single thing on Arena was/were re-recorded in the studio. Arena was not polished so much it's lost it's live feel. It was polished to give it a live feel.

The track listing from the picture is:
SIDE 1 Tiger Tiger / Is There Something I Should Know? Hungry Like The Wolf Union of the Snake New Religion
SIDE 2 Save A Prayer Rio The Seventh Stranger The Chauffeur
SIDE 3 Planet Earth Careless Memories Girls On Film
So identical to the tracklist on the DVD.
