In honor of Roxy Music getting inducted into RR Hall of Hall of Fame they played this gem on First Wave...Bryan Ferry was the guest with Lori Majewski...amazing song..
Andy was amazing on guitars and Roger was mimicking Jon Bonham...crazy 70's vibe with Durans style!!!!

I've always thought this TAviv version was the closest RM sounding DD track
I remeber hearing it for the first time when I purchased the deluxe DD 81 two disc CD release circa 2010, having said that I remeber reading the lyric for the first time in 84 in the "DD book of words" book.
It sounds like the early to mid career RM stuff where either the chorus, verse or middle 8 bit would break out unexpectedly into what could be a different song altogether.
Innovation or improvisation..................or both ?

For all the new stuff that came out with those remasters, that might be the best thing out of all of them.

Andy's guitar is great here,
IMO, it has Phil Manzanera's influence all over it !
check out,
Amazona go 2.46 or listen to the full track
Out Of The Blue, e go 3.27 or listen to the full track "If you were me, would you walk out in style?" asks/sings Bry
Prairie Rose, go 1.49 > or listen to the full track Hmm about Jerry, she was from Texas wasn't she?
Both Ends Burning, go 4.10 or listen to the full track
Stronger Thru The Years, go 0.23 then later 3.45 or listen to the full track "Thru the undercover hours, flesh is weak" sings B, thing is I don't remember any silver lips back in my day, yet I do remember kisses borrowed and stealing glances, must say despite at times feeling weak, it did make me stronger thru the years tho, very well put Bry
My Only Love, go 2.15 and 5.07 or listen to the full track
Better still, let this one take you on a journey, be sure to witness and hear both Phil and Chris's guitars err cry. Well that's what they do with me anyway ! Ohh and I'm sure you'll notice the fabulous Sarah Brown, trust DD to pinch her from Bryan and Co and take her on the reunion tour.

Amazing stuff! thanks for sharing! I've never heard before and I like a lot. I can see Bowie's influences and the chords remind me of "White Queen" by Queen. This is Duran Duran before Duran Duran existed. It seems a good number to close the early shows and let the musicians stand out. I love those melodies for Simon's voice, in a troubadour style, as in "The Chauffeur" or "Before the Rain".

I hear glen fry and joe walsh influence from the Eagles as well.. Oh God, please don't say that... dammit, how do you vote down a comment? LOL, no offense meant andre, I'm just kidding. But let's just say that I'm not much of an Eagles fan. I love the Tel Aviv demo; it blew my mind the first time I actually heard it (although, like aftertherain, I too had read the lyrics in The Book Of Words). But for me, the artist whose influence I heard all over the second half of the song was Neil Young (most specifically "Like A Hurricane").

Well spotted Kiffa, aren't you well educated when it comes to DDs DNA I bet you have seen this clip, however for those who haven't it's RM covering Neil's LAH from 83 & boy don't I love seeing Bryan totally lost in the moment while on stage something which thankfully he still does to this day. Perhaps its a Libran thing? (Loving getting lost/taken away).......or it's a born on the same day? (not year) thing!!! Ive been fortunate enough to meet BF on neumerous occasions in various hotel lobbys since 95 and one of these days I'm gonna ask him what exact time on the 26th was he born. Like is that something people generally know (I mean as an inquisitive individual I know my time) but for the most of us we have to call mum or dad I imagine, it's what I did long time ago. Thing is that to this day, I haven't had the courage to ask Bryan what time was he born. It's a personal question I suppose and Bryan doesn't like being looked in the eye when asking him something, he's the humblest shy-est guy, it's totally ironic that he's a bonafide godfather of rock ! Maybe that's simply his way of escaping while on stage. Ive asked him about song inspirations, album covers, DD, thanked him playing obscure tracks, asked for photos etc he's even introduced me to the family (his sons) asking me "is it ok if Otis takes our photo?" (What a gentleman). Like seriously Bryan, truth is I'm not that worthy TBH Enjoy the clip !
