I think it would be kind of cool if they just did a studio cover of “I Feel Love”. It was a huge inspiration to their sound and it would be of cool to see if they could make a “thicker” sounding modern version.

Well, I love old work from Giorgio. He has done some great things. But his last solo album was pretty bad. Hopefully the can steer him in a good direction together. If both sides are inspired, a Moroder / Duran Duran team-up should be fantastic.

If both sides are inspired, a Moroder / Duran Duran team-up should be fantastic. I understand people get excited, but imo Moroder is just a brand name nowadays. He had a lot of ‘help’ on his last studio album (which I did like, but is an all-EDM affair with the type of collaborations that many here seem to hate); keep in mind he is turning 80 in a few months (don't want to be ageist though). Don’t get your hopes up too high. Moroder’s last great work is also over 35 years in the past. But let's wait and see. The good news is that an album will be out early in 2020 (at least that is what they are saying now).

That's a great song-- but the vocals are sung so high, and they don't translate into a lower register very well. Sing it an octave lower and the song really loses something. It's kind of like with the recent cover of "Walking On The Moon". Simon starts out singing it lower than the Police version, and if you're used to the original, it doesn't really work. But when he goes up an octave, then he's straining to hit the notes and just doesn't sound comfortable. Simon can hit some high notes, but he'd sound weird singing an entire song in falsetto.

I agree with this point...it would probably require some “studio magic”. Even when they did it on the Astro tour most of the vocals were done by the backup singer.

It's about "bloody time" DD n GM got together.
I met GM about 5 years ago in a downtown city hotel and had him sign my Midnight Express soundtrack LP and Daft Punk's RAMs album too, which he kindly did so.
What a cool dude, even at his age, he never shook my hand but we fist bumped or bro fist'ed, whatever it's referred to these days.
Anyway like many, my first introduction to him was this song
and even tho at the age of approx 7 years old, I had a much older brother listening to it and hence you can imagine my teenage brother and his mates who would be umm-img n arr-img over whether Donna actually experienced an orgasm in the studio or not? and indeed this was way before I even knew what the word orgasm meant.
Later Donna released this which IMO was just as cool n awfully frivolous.
Circa 78 or 79 I heard "the chase" (from the midnight express soundtrack) for the first time and in its own way it changed my taste literally towards disco electronica. To the extent where from 81 onward, it would reverberate in various ways via DD and others too.
The phase strings for one are the basis of what Nick R was doing in much of the early DD period. All very sound scape-y and again very early DD sounding.
This is the original version and for its time I'm sure those familiar with it will agree that it's an innovation indeed unlike we had heard at the time.
I mean there was the organic rhythmic disco stuff that CHIC Nile/Bernard were doing (which was great) but this was radically different in its own right.
One has to ask, what the early synth DD sound may have been if it were not for Giorgio M ?

That's great news... Just listened to Roger's Kafe and he mentions it too. Also says he hopes the new album is out in the Spring...making good progress. Did he mention which Spring? I’d love to think 2020 but in Duran time it could be anything up to 2024 Here’s hoping I’m wrong On the GM input, I’m a bit underwhelmed- I don’t think any collaboration has really added anything to the sound, most took away IMO, maybe Ronson but I listened back to AYNIN recently and it’s hasn’t held up well- but again I adored it at the time.
