Whilst browsing the collection, as we have infinite time now, I noticed I didnt have the 1985 Parlophone Odeon original Uk cd. What i did have was a Capitol CDP.. red disc issue and the budget PRG Uk cd. So I consulted Discogs and couldnt find one, so for those clever discography people, was it released on cd in the UK in 1985 please and if so, can anyone point out the EAN or Cat number please? Cheers!

Cheers! There simply was no CD of SO RED THE ROSE in 1985. Don't know why! It was then meant for a release in 1987 (the 7 46647 2 in the cat-no gives an idea for this 1987-project), but for reasons unknown, shelved again! First UK CD was in 1993 w/ CDPRG 1010-0777 7 46647 2 1. The US Capitol CD came out in 1991, you can easily find out by checking the cat-no, which is CDP 7 96358 2. Even Japan got the CD issue not before 1990. I have never seen a 1985/1987 CD of this album. Very odd!

Frustratingly there's an entry for a Canadian pressing of the CD - similar artwork to the UK issue - that has an issuance date of 1985, which is totally incorrect. Funny how everyone got excited in 1990 when the Japanese CD appeared when, if you think about it, it'd only been 5 years since the album came out.

In 1985 nobody owned a CD player and certainly none of the teens who were the band's fanbase, so no loss there. But the SRTR CD was also not released until quite late in the CD era (not talking about the Japanese version). 1993 in Europe, when all other artists had already made their backcatalogue available on CD. Classic Duran I would say.
Big Thing was my first Duran Duran album on CD in 1989 (after I bought the LP on the day of release). Very expensive for me as a young boy as CDs were at the time still premium product.

Seven was next with a cat no 46015 - the first album was next 46042 and I know that Arena was next 46048 and I got a copy for Christmas in 1984 - released in tandem with the cassette and vinyl album. So all were available to buy by Christmas 1984 As for So Red the Rose - I know I didn’t get it on CD until the mid 90s at the earliest and being excited when I got it on the media because I had never seen it before
