I noticed that Nick's creativity is constantly being undermined and Andy's overestimated. Too many unflattering posts have been written about Nick. So, I will undermine Andy's creativeness now, to keep the balance right Let’s talk about „Planet Earth”. Andy said: „ The essence of Planet Earth came from „Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” which Rod Stewart reckons was brilliant. The synth-guitar hook line that kicks off the tune is played on the same scale and key; the first two chords Dm7 & F are the same, so the melody/ counter melody lines are interchangeable.” Was it the insinuation that Nick wasn't creative and he did kind of "rip off" - the synth part from Rod’s song? Well, at the same time Andy „forgot” to mention that for PE he „took” guitar riff form „I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss. If you listen that song, you will notice that PE has more in common with IWMFLY than „Da Ya…”.

Incredible thinking Max i was just thinking of the similarity to PE as soon as I completed my post only minutes ago on another thread, where I mention Kiss's I was made for loving you being disco inspired, and here you are posting it already GREAT STUFF MAX

For me, I have to say that Andy's riff in "Hungry Like The Wolf" sounds like it came straight out of a T. Rex song. It took me a long time to notice it, but once I did, it was glaring. I still love it though, and I almost cringe at what Dom does with it, with that extra little note at the end that he always has to throw in. Jesus, we sure do beat up on DD a lot for a DD fan group, don't we?

Jesus, we sure do beat up on DD a lot for a DD fan group, don't we? Yes, but let me explain why that is a good thing : 1) It means we're passionate, and still care about a pop band who's first hit was almost 40 years ago. 2) It provides balance, which is vital if a forum is going to maintain interest and credibility. Many years ago I read a number of threads at an anti-Duran forum started as a backlash to the Red Carpet Massacre album. A few very valid points were made, but overall the forum was full of vitriol, and most pro-Duran posts were shot down in flames. You know what happened - there was so much negativity it got boring real quick. Because every thread was negative, even the valid points lost impact. The site died within a year. Compare that to this great forum - still going strong like Duran Duran themselves! At the end of the day - you need balance. There are only a few posters constantly critical of Duran, and even they can occasionally be very positive. At the other end you have obsessed crazies who virtually stalk Duran and treat them like a family member, or promote Duran Duran as if they're actually in the band themselves, but even they can occasionally be negative. The remainder - the reasonable majority - are happy to discuss the good and bad of Duran Duran. As long as what is being posted is accurate, then it doesn't worry me whether it paints the band in a good light or a bad light - I just prefer the truth.

Oh well... maybe Dom should try observing the recorded version lol. Not saying by any means that a band should always play carbon copies of their records, just that I can't believe that Dom (or Andy (or anyone)) thinks it sounds better that way.

Moreover, Rod Stewart wasn't original, too!

Let's just face it - Nick is the Donald Trump of Duran Duran.
MDGA!
