This has been done. Back in 2007, Sirius gave them their own channel called Red Carpet Radio. The exposure on Sirius for that album was massive: a Stern interview, their own channel, lots of plays for Falling Down, tons of airtime on 80s on 8 as well as First Wave. They were everywhere in Satellite radio. Sadly, mainstream radio ignored Falling Down and Sony let the album die. Imagine if they had stuck to their guns with Nite Runner as the first single. God, no - Please. Not Nite Runner. I think they did the right thing - count their losses and hope the world forgets about it. RCM was a blot on their career - a very sad, desperate attempt at seeking a hit single. Besides, it was embarrassing to see the word ‘Night’ spelt as ‘Nite’ on the artwork. It was such a hypocritical move by the label. To push the band to work with the two Timbs and then wonder why Falling Down flopped. Then pull the plug after blowing the budget on a crap video. So, we’ve lost Andy in the meantime, hardly a tour and back to work on AYNIN - great work Sony. Morons. Nothing on RCM would have worked. Should have stuck with Reportage and we would more than likely still have Andy. The labels haven’t a damn clue. The Red Carpet album and era was litigated over on the Steve Hoffman forums and most people there were kind to it. A Nite Runner single would have undoubtedly boosted the albums’s commercial prospects. And The Valley remains one of the very best post-reunion songs. As for Sony and its mishandling of the project, it has since come out that the label was being run by some very bad human beings at the time. RCM’s failure can also be chalked up to wrong label, wrong time.

We will never know now - but it altered the bands course.. and fortunes I would imagine. From a credibility point of view, Falling Down is the right song - and fairly standard as a pop record, which suited Duran Duran’s image. It doesn’t bode well for a white artist to sing black music, especially Duran Duran, unless your name’s Eminem. If you’re chasing hits, play safe.

Do you have the winning numbers for our national lottery? You are a psychic! I'm sorry Andre, you don't have to be the love child of Nostradamus and John Edward to know what threads you have started. If the thread contains any of the following words, then it's an Andre thread (displaying the top 10 only): 1) Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame 2) Saturday Night Live 3) Radio Station 4) Duran Vs [insert more popular group here] 5) Why Doesn't Duran ... 6) I Don't Get It - Duran Not In Top 100? 7) Duran Should Have Been Higher 8) U2 9) Spotify 10) Nick Vs [insert either really good, or really bad, keyboard player here]

Andre: You cannot be Sirius, maan. As a content creator, I know how much pre-production goes into content. Radio stations are a time sap, and could be automated these days, as listeners eventually take it for granted the station will always be there, and tune out. So far I havent listened to any of Simons Wooosh radio stuff, as I just dont have the spare time to listen, and find it too distracting when Im working or playing video games. I have watched all of JTs videos, as I can set a time to sit down and watch them undividedly.
