That is really sad news Tim, so sorry! I noticed that the scapers on ebay and discogs are in fact record stores, well some of them. I understand they want to make an extra dollar but it is insane they do this. I had put up something on the Facebook page of my local record store (where I had initially tried to source a copy early on Saturday) along the lines of "a pity there's a local eBay scalper selling RSD2020 stuff from [insert name of small nearby town] from early on Saturday". The record store owner messaged me to say that they were innocent, but took my post down even although I was not accusing them. That made me suspicious, so I dug about and it turns out that the owners of the record store live in said "small nearby town", and the eBay seller in question is continuing to sell a lot of RSD2020 stock, including multiple copies (although not of DD, that ship has long since sailed). Coincidence...?

Tim, if you look on eBay Sold, Intense Records also sold one on eBay at the same time you bought yours - possibly listed on both channels and they have 'sold' via eBay as easier to cancel yours reputationally - possible if very upsetting?

They've claimed that they cancelled that eBay order as well - as i did check that ahead of responding to them. Yeah, replying to them was one of those times where i had to go outside & have a cigarette & a think, & then come back & delete most of the email...
Well, whilst there's no value in being a complete pushover, there's also no value & f'ing & blinding at people in general - & whilst it's clearly their fault (so it's not like i'd have been taking it out on some random bit of call centre staff or something), i can't make them have one to sell to me.
Yeah, so deep & calming nicotine laden breathes...

Looking at eBay solds and current for sale for the ADITM RSD release, I make that 21 copies sold for more than £40, with another nine currently for sale from the UK. So that's 30 copies that passed through the paws of UK-based scalpers. The UK provision out of the 600 can't have been any more than 300, so I reckon that's at least 10% of the copies going to scalpers to sell via eBay. Not sure I find that anywhere near acceptable.

But it probably proves there were a small number in the UK. I think only one of us has owned up to a copy?!

I was lucky, my brother picked up a copy for me ( only one copy sorry). I'd wait for a bit, the prices on Ebay will probably come down as have with previous RSD releases.

Trouble is that there isn't the volume of copies in the first place this time, and the ones on eBay actually are making a lot of money. That wasn't the case for previous RSD releases.

Agree entirely, simple economics, it clearly was limited, demand will always now outstrip supply on this one!

I always liked the idea of 'Record Store Day'and had a lot of fun queueing with other vinyl enthusiasts for a good catch. Now I suggest to rename it 'Record Auction Day', as the the profit apparently is made online. I don't need record stores that only sell the standard stuff...

The prices for As The Lights Go Down haven't come down much but that was a release that also appealed to non-DD fans as it covers the period most people associate DD with I guess. There was a lot of demand for that one.
