Quick question - whose voice is it that states "Rock and roll star" at the beginning of the track "First Impression"? Anyone know?

I remember Nick saying in 2010 that Liberty De Luxe would be released with a bonus disc, which he called "Liberty Second Album". Where the hell is it

I used to believe Nick and would put my own weight behind his ‘Incroyable’ statements. Not any more. It’s about PR - doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad PR. It seems that Duran will take anything these days.

Great SDE interview about a very, very poor album. The first sign of Duran falling apart... The first sign of DD falling apart was the split. Liberty was about regaining confidence to move forward into the 90’s. No Liberty then no Wedding Album, then no career.

Yes, the cracks were well and truly showing during 1985 & 1986 with the side projects and the failure of the band to regroup in full.
Liberty could have ended the band - it was about revitalising the band as a five piece and a new beginning. The fact that it ended up being creatively suspect and commercially weak would have ended many a band. Thankfully four of them had the stamina and desire to then pull the Wedding Album out of the bag.

I really liked the interview. And well, even Chris Kimsey thinks Liberty as an album isn't any good... But as he said, imagine if they wouldn't have done it, maybe it would have been the end for the band. They have to deliver something to the record level, and they did, even if it sucked.
I wish there would be more interviews like this one.

I wish there would be more interviews like this one. Like I said in another thread somewhere, DD in 1990 were effectively a new band. If this ‘new’ band had sent in a demo of Liberty they would have been snapped up straight away. Lots of potential and with some adjustments, you’re left with a pretty good album. Especially if the label had waited for Ordinary World. There’s a lot worse albums I can think of!
