‘I love Warren’ That’s good enough for me. I don’t take any notice of the porn or conspiracy theories. The guy is nuts and that is why I have a soft spot for Warren. I don’t fancy him or want to have sex with him. I just appreciate his ‘technique’ and the ‘music’ and ‘skill’ he brought to Duran. Big Thing’s sound brought me on board - and that’s all down to Mr Cuccurullo. It gave Duran more avenues to drive down and it meant anything, absolutely anything was possible. Andre, Warren was sacked because of a gulf with the band members - and I accept that. We’re all guilty of doing things that we may have regretted in life. If Warren wasn’t sacked there would be no DD now. BUT let’s not forget there would have been no DD in the 90’s if it wasn’t for Warren - that is a fact. So, this is down to technical ability. If you find technical ‘boring’ then you and I have totally differing reasons for enjoying DD’s music. Perhaps I listen with a little more perception - the finer detail. RAW baby! Lol Him changing the classics was as sac religious!! Unacceptable!!! He hasn’t changed the classics. They were reworked for an acoustic tour that was collectively agreed by Duran Duran - being 5 members if you include John Jones. The intention was to never change the dna of the classics and to say otherwise is just ludicrous. You’ve got to come up with something more constructive Andre. You’re clutching at straws. Additionally, this is not just about you. There are many who did enjoy the acoustic shows, which is something they couldn’t do now anyway as they haven’t the personnel on board to arrange it.. or play it. Which was my earlier point about having the ability to take different avenues.

Why hasn't Duran acknowledged Warren's contributions? Maybe Nick here and there, but he was pretty much nonexistent in the Duran Documentary--what a shame for someone who bailed them out in the 90's? Andy will always be part of the Fab 5 and if he asks Duran to come back one more time....would you accept it? Third time is the charm as they say! Duran Duran forever! With or Without Andy! That's my motto!

Andre, I don’t care if Andy or Warren returns. I’m well past that stage and I couldn’t honestly care less. You seem to be struggling to grasp what I’m saying or trying to get across. What actually began as a kind of tongue-in-cheek, off the cuff swipe on my part has quickly developed into a frenzy, last seen in 1984. Don’t take things to heart and appreciate that fans have their own idea of the perfect Duran Duran. I should have known better than to have a joke. I’m done.

Is this a real debate?
Why can't a fan think Andy Duran was best, and think that Warren was the best guitarist Duran had, at the same time? I don't think those things have to be opposed to one another.
I pefer Andy Duran (pre reunion) to Warren Duran, but I think, technically, Warren was a more skilled guitarist, and musician, over all, even, relative to all the other band members.
I would say that, for me, this is precisely what makes the Warren era less enjoyable. The imbalance became increasingly more evident with each album. His influence grew and the influence, and spirit, of the original band, dwindled. This Andy Duran fan did not enjoy watching that happen.
It's ok to say Warren was the best guitarist Duran ever had, AND say I liked Andy Duran most.

Just finished my supply of popcorn. I can go to the shop and get more if this debate is still going? Edit: My take on things: Both guitarists were very good, but Warren is an absolute genius, so takes the award technically. However... Technically brilliant doesn't always translate to composing brilliant songs. I can appreciate the simple amazingness of the Girls On Film riff, or Hungry Like The Wolf riff for example. I'm a major fan of the old KISS principle, and a catchy riff beats incredible manual dexterity every time. So - when it comes to riff choices, and general songwriting, - overall Andy wins. But - I'm talking about "80s Andy", as most of the stuff that I've heard come from Andy this century (including Astronaut), is very underwhelming. However - "Wedding Album Warren" came very close to matching Duran's heroic 80s efforts. We all know that Ordinary World is arguably Duran Duran's greatest ever song, with Come Undone not too far behind. Warren's songwriting was like the little girl who had a little curl right in the middle of her forehead. When he was good, he was very very good, but when he was bad, he was horrid. I would much prefer Duran Duran with a full-time guitarist, even though it's never happening. And after his generally outstanding writing credits on All You Need Is Now (in particular) and Paper Gods, I would be happy for that guitarist to be Dom Brown!
Am prepared to overlook Danceophobia as an aberration on a fine (albeit short) resume

Am prepared to overlook Danceophobia as an aberration on a fine (albeit short) resume I agree with everything you just said. Also, I would go so far to say that it is extremely frustrating that they choose not to go with a full time guitarist. Said guitarist would need to match Nick's dominance in the studio though to be effective. Dom would be perfect if that wasn't the case.

However, even though that's what Duran Duran needs, I would suggest that any dominant guitarist who attempts to throw his weight around in the studio, is going to have a below-average life expectancy in Duran Duran Therefore - Dom it is! Spoiler Alert : Chances of happening equals zero.

They may not think it, but they are more limited without a full time guitarist on board.
