‘Ultimate’?
Well that would be a toss up between Talk Talk’s The Colour of Spring, Frankie’s The Pleasuredome, Ultravox Vienna, Bowie’s Let’s Dance or Tears for Fears Sowing the Seeds.
There’s so much to choose from that fantastic decade!
I love DD but there’s so much more to the eighties.

It's a pity the poll didn't allow for voting for (say) five albums to allow people to spread the appreciation to other classics. That would give a closer and more honest vote overall. I voted for Rio, but there are many other classics in there as you suggest.

I apologise to the author of the thread and will take a look.

There's a lot of quality classics mentioned, and some surprising omissions. From the list provided my five would be (in alphabetical order of artist name):
a-ha - Hunting High & Low Depeche Mode – Music For The Masses Duran Duran - Rio The Human League - Dare The Stone Roses – The Stone Roses
Surprising omissions from the list that would have knocked the Human League and Stone Roses out of that Top 5:
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream Ultravox - Vienna
And even then I feel guilty for ignoring some classics that are on the list...

As an American I can’t vote, but my five from that list are:
Stones Roses (favorite album of all time) Three Feet High and Rising Rio Disintegration Kick
The Joshua Tree and The Queen Is Dead are still amazing but haven’t aged as well.

Also from the U.S., so no vote for me. I’d go with:
ABC Lexicon of Love Bowie Let’s Dance Duran Rio INXS Kick It’s a toss up for the last one, but I think Prince’s Purple Rain
