I finally went through all my Duran stuff that's not actually music (i.e., pins, posters, promo flats, keychains, etc.),
I have a huge bag of pins, some duplicates in various conditions. I want to keep some of them, but also may want to get rid of some too. Is there anyone here that knows what to look for if they were part of a tour set or are if they are limited? Any pointers would be great.
Thanks

if there's images then i should be able tell you about most of them... ...though, with some of them from the US in the heyday then there's both official versions, which would be Tritec licensed, & very similar unofficial ones - so any extra info that's printed on each of them would be helpful.
[Edit]
Well, if, for example, you've got UOTS logo style badges or a set of them with TWB look or whatever then they'll either say that they're licensed or they won't.
[End Edit]
What you can certainly do though is to discount as official all of the square ones with either plastic frames & (ttbomk) all of the square folded cardboard backs that were very common in the US... ...as well as any of the oversized badges, except for the official PT one of course. Tbh though, there's very little that's limited to the extent of being worth lots of money - where whilst there's a handful of things that would normally top out at around £20-30 (either per badge or set), the actual rarity doesn't automatically correspond to what anyone's actually interested in spending money on. So, a bit like the really rare US radio station event badges, whilst accepting that this isn't in mint condition then it was under $4.50 shipped within the US a fortnight ago; where 50% of the cost was tax & shipping... Attachment Deleted...whereas the pretty common versions of the 5x 83/84 tour sets (as there's 2 versions) would normally go for £20-30 if they're on the card.
Likewise, there's a handful of items - like the metal BT multipart promo badge set, the tiny BT badge from the promo box, the two Australian iDWYL badges, the blue vip RCM badge from the Australasian/Asian dates, etc that effectively never show up for sale...
(as well as stuff like the odd Japanese badges that i've recently been picking up) ...or, for that matter, any copies of the Rio badge where the plastic filler is completely intact...
...& so there's not really a going rate for them - though, whilst i would imagine that, for example, the multipart BT set would go for a premium, no one else was interested when the only set of the Australian badges that i've seen came up many years ago.

Thanks for all the info. Only about 40% of the pins are licensed. And strangely quite a few of the unlicensed pins were made in Canada. I've picked out the ones I want to keep. Below are the ones that I do not want to keep. If anyone here wants all of some of them, please send me a message. Thanks. Attachment Deleted

Yeah, just to clarify something, the licensed thing primarily applies to 83-late 85, & the available info is very UK/N. American-centric.
Where, prior to 83 then nothing seems to have been licensed - so, whilst it's pretty obvious with most things - as almost all of the official ones were either the fan club ones or were the tour ones then sold via the fan club...
...or are (mostly) odd US radio station promo badges & the like (i'm still wondering if there was a WPLJ/Dr Pepper badge from 82) - where i see those as being official...
...or there's the magazine cover badges - where i personally don't see them as official, but they're not quite 'junk'.
So, whilst most of the stuff can be 'pinned down', i have one early set of 5 badges that i'm really not sure of - both as they're much more nicely printed than all of the ones i know are junk from the time & i don't think i've seen another set...
...i'm also not sure about at least the small PS monochrome badges - there's certainly a black & white, & blue & white versions... ...possibly one or two others.
Whilst, from Notorious (as Tritec was disbanded of course) then, until it gets to the Skin Divers branding, i can't immediately think of anything that had a license mark.

I have quite a few buttons and pins. This picture is from 1987 and you can see toward the bottom some official Strange Behaviour Tour stuff. There is an official Notorious cover button and the set on the card, plus the ribbon and star pin and on the right, the two identical metal pins. I believe there is a ribbon and star pin with a blue ribbon, too, but I do not have this. Attachment DeletedThese are some of the ones I still wear occasionally, mostly duplicates of old ones I got from other fans. I know the blue one on top is official, as is the Planet Earth one, which was from the '93 tour, if I recall correctly. You can actually see the printing on the edge in the picture. The Power Station one and I think the Scavulo group shot are official. I just looked for it, but am not sure where it is @ the moment, or I would check. Attachment Deleted

This is all official merch from tours in the 2000s. Attachment Deleted

AYNIN Tour Attachment DeletedOffhand, I am not sure about markings or if the Notorious one was official. I'd have to find it and have a look. The circle Ds are from Wedding Album tour. The earrings are not, but were popular and there is a matching pendant and pin, same size and shape. Attachment DeletedThese were promotional and worn by employees @ Las Vegas Hard Rock. Photos not showing. Reposting. i don't know if you're posting to share or to ask for comments or quite what... ...but the quality of the first photo is far too low to see the detail for everything - so whilst there's clearly a mix of official, a couple of magazine & a load of completely unofficial badges that i can identify just from looking, going through would be a bit of a nightmare.
Okay, an option would be to weed through & pull out the obviously licensed ones to then re-photo - as that then removes the problem/possibility of there being similar unlicensed ones...
...but more generally then if you add photos as an attachment, instead of an image, then you can use a higher quality image.
That said, the 3 immediate things to comment on are that - - in photo 1, why do you believe that the square Notorious album cover pin is official? (i'm asking for info here as it's not something that was available over here - & i have no evidence that either that or the BT cover badge in the same style was official; whereas all of the other similarly made N American ones were unofficial)
- unless my memory's playing tricks on me, i don't think i've ever seen a temporary tattoo sheet for EB - & would be interesting to have an image. - & since you seemed to be asking, in photo 6, that tiny :NOTORIOUS: badge came attached to the FC sheet in the summer of 86... ...& there's also a 2nd mauve version.
