I love Lady Ice but let's be honest it would not work in an arena show- it's too long and too slow and probably about 1% of the audience would know it

My guess is, they probably rehearsed those songs and sounded like crap live.

Point of No Return was played live at their Earls Court gig in 2005. I remember them playing it. Lovely song. Lady Ice? Maybe at a theatre show but yes, SLB May struggle with that one. The Seventh Stranger was very welcome during their last tour.

My Antarctica- another great lost single. What a lost opportunity. I doubt this would have done them any good in 1990. The musical landscape had changed so drastically since 1988, I don't think any song of theirs would have been a hit. 1993 was the period of Britpop, which in a way made their new sound more in sync with the times.

There were still plenty of mid-tempo hits in the charts back in 1990-1991 and My Antarctica is a great mid-tempo ballad. I think it would have done well, despite the crap snare drum on it (sounds like a small plastic tub). Britpop really kicked in late 1994.

It’s a beautiful song but its not a hit single. It doesn’t have that high adrenaline, instant success ingredient. It would have needed more than a month in the charts to be able to create a spark - we’ve had 30 years.

Agree. As much as I hate Medezza and PT, Liberty is their album that is most out of sync with the Zeitgeist. They aimed to continue their pop tenure, changed their sound to stay relevant but completely in the wrong direction of the then current musical trends and even further away from their new wave roots. Resulting in the lack of interest of both their teen fans and more serious music lovers
With Medazza and PT they were not trying to create hit albums. In a way they did with RCM and Paper Gods, which many people did not like, but they were following the musical trends of the time (I like PG but hate RCM)
