The podcast "First/Last Party On Earth" is linked to on DD twitter. Starting at around the 12 min. mark Nick details what he has been up to which includes working with an artist named Wendy Bevan. Not only is there a vocal album completed but around four albums worth of instrumental material! As for the band's next album, he says 7-8 songs have already been mixed by Spike Stent and the two Giorgio Moroder tracks just need final vocals from Simon.

Interesting. So they’ve only got 7-8 songs ready to go? Simon still needs to add vocals to 2 more... wonder if he’s got lyrics, melodies, harmonies etc or is he still developing all of that? Would imagine they would probably want more than 9-10 songs for an album release (b-sides, multi-formatted versions like they did for PG & AYNIN). Obviously still needs to be mastered, packaged and marketed. I’m just starting to wonder if a 2021 release for DD15 is still actually viable. Maybe. Maybe not. Would be cool if they could at least set the table with a single in advance. soundcloud.com/bittersweetmachines/winter-marches-on-duran-duran-cover

While I think the final album will be roughly 12 songs (we have heard 6-8 tracks produced by Alkan, 2 with Ronson, 2 with Moroder), I would be fine with a 10 track album. Albums have become too bloated in the streaming age with too much filler. Do Taylor Swift albums really need 16-18 songs on them? Would they be more highly regarded if she cut them down to a more streamlined 10 songs? Probably
DD's best albums were always lean affairs: 9 songs on the first three, 10 songs on Notorious, 10 proper songs on Big Thing, the 9 track version of AYNIN.
In fact, my favorite album of 2020, the astonishing "Inlet" by Hum, was only 8 songs. All killer, no filler. Give me 8-9 songs of consistent high quality rather than padding an album with flotsam like Last Night or Danceophobia.

Typically I really like about half of any given DD album, so the more songs on there, the more I'm likely to enjoy. So if DD15 is only 10 songs, I really hope there's no filler. Only being able to enjoy five new DD songs in six years would kinda suck.
I'm a bit nervous that these Moroder tracks I keep hearing about are going to sound completely different from the rest of the album. If they resemble Last Night In The City and Dancephobia I'll be disappointed.

I’m fine with an album that has fewer, quality songs, but at this point I’m wondering where they are progress-wise. The fact that the Moroder tracks still need vocals is surprising....unless he just needs to layer in backing tracks. It seems as though perhaps the urgency is lacking at this point.

Same here, the more the better, I'll make my own selection, especially as the 'shorter' versions of albums since the reunion without bonus tracks contains songs I do not like at all (Leopard or You kill me with silence for instance) whill I love some of the bonus tracks (Too bad you're so beautiful, Valentine stones, Virus). And then there are the true gems they did not bother to include in either version (Beautiful Colours). Don't be nervous, because they will be EDM tracks, so just forget about them if you're not into EDM. Don't expect something like Take My Breath Away or I Feel Love...

They are in no hurry at the moment because there will be no touring for ages yet. It could be a long wait.

I can remember listening to Liberty in 1990 and being unable to get into Venice Drowning. It was the first Duran track on an album that I had to fast forward (bought it on cassette) or skip! There have been many more in later albums, but I guess that might be for another thread on another day! Tracks you always skipped! (Rather than skip now, due to hearing them so much!)

They end up being better than some songs that make the finished album! Beautiful Colors, Salt in the Rainbow, Pretty ones! This song is amazing!!!
