I found this video on Youtube. Duran Duran in 1983 answering fan questions. At one point one of the questions is whether Roger Taylor will be leaving the band. Apparently, at that time there was already this rumor ... Does anyone know the exact date when Roger Taylor's departure was announced? Does anyone have clippings from that time with the news?

I think it suits Roger more in the line up post 2003 - he’s less inclined to have his clothes torn off...
In all seriousness the attention they had back in those days was off the scale. Imagine their partners having to put up with over zealous girls wanting their ounce of flesh. These days it’s over zealous ladies...
I’ll get my coat!! 😁

Was it not announced in 1985 that Roger was taking a year out?
He then never showed up again until the Thank You recording in the mid 90s.

Yes..and wasn't Perfect Day the last time he played drums that weren’t plugged in? 😉 Incidentally, that video, in that soundproofed, padded walled room, included my ideal Duran Duran. Just put those damn electronic drums in EBay Rog!!

I remember reading about Roger's departure in a magazine, around early 1986, but I had no idea what the exact date of his departure would have been. Too bad Roger was out of the band for so many years ... if he had returned in time for the album "Notorious" we would have had a line-up made up of: Simon, Nick, John, Warren and Roger.

Truly odd seeing Simon singing with hands in pockets seemingly emulating Liam Gallagher and/or Damon Albarn... Had that lineup for a few days in 1995:

I wonder what Roger thought working with Warren vs Andy..
It was only 1 song but still wondering what his thoughts were on him personally and professionally?
