Obviously there will not be a large tour for DD in 2021, maybe those festival shows will happen this summer, maybe not - but they ain't touring the USA or anywhere else on a large scale.
We know there is an album in the can. Probably a single picked, maybe even a video done.
Here's my wild, speculative prediction...
1. None of those summer shows are going to happen. Variants are causing more lock downs. Maybe 'Touch the Sunrise' happens in October. Ibiza is a loose place.
2. New Single...my bet is October/November
3. Album Release... first quarter 2022.
4. 'Tour'... Fall 2022.
From a concert insider, many bands are about to cancel 2021 tours. Disturbed already did. Other's will follow. He said we now have a 2-year back up on tours, so 2022 will see re-booked (again) tours from 2020. This will push anyone planning to tour in 2021 back to 2022, or beyond. He's working on the Muse tour, and it's looking like early 2023. It's just venue availability at this point.
The good news is the 'demand' will be very strong after 18 - 24 months of no live shows. He thinks 2022, 2023 concert seasons will be epic and hearing all kinds of crazy stadium tour rumors (U2 & R.E.M.!!) and other events in planning stages...
Where will DD fit into all this? I think best case scenario, Fall 2022 for the tour. One thing DD have to reconcile is no matter what they put out - it's not going to sell. They could have Bono, Dave Gahan, Bille Ellish and 50 other guests on the album and it ain't moving more than 30K copies in the USA. That's done.
The Tour is the big deal.

You can say the same thing with any act over age of 50! U2 didn't move many copies of last few albums! Touring is where the $$$ is at! I think they will defintely move more than 30K copies--provided the single is good and popular and AC radio and Sirus play the heck out of it!

Can’t disagree that everything may well get pushed back, as touring certainly the straw that stirs the drink for the boys. In their case there is also the element of time / age - all else equal, waiting isn’t their friend as at some point touring will become more burdensome and they need to all be in good health to give a proper push.

They could play in the UK this year, we are miles ahead with vaccinations compared to Europe.
I can't see any dates happening until September.

Right. Album sales won't be significant. Most casual fans, if they're curious, will stream it once and then go back to the old stuff. I don't think the tour will be impacted by the album one way or the other, so might as well release it now!

In the UK, I see half of the people not wearing masks, like we are on the road to recovery. There is a new vaccine, and the lockdown on my mums nursing home has ended, so now I can go in to see her. In the F1 world, they are trying to bring back the sport, and slowly encourage fans back.
There is no point fear mongering that the lockdowns will continue, as they have been proved to be completely ineffective in any case. JT got through this without so much as a cough, so I'd say its about time we stop the cancel culture and get back to having more babies, so the planet will become unsustainable. When we're all fighting for oxygen then you can tell me the show is cancelled.

We are the worst in cases and deaths in America! Never started wearing masks from day 1! The problem now is that things are opening again and guess what cases and deaths ticking back up!!! Key was getting ahead of it and many countries in Europe and USA did not thanks to inept leadership!’ Duran would be smart to hit Australia and New Zealand first on tour! Many American Game shows ie Name that Tune and Young Rock are being filmed in Down Under because they are safer! If Aussies can fill 55k stadiums .. Duran can play medium size to large arena shows there first.. if I was their mgr I would tour there now!!! Before their summer ends or beginning of their fall!!! More play time, you are wrong! This virus affects people differently.. you can be asymptomatic and still spread the disease. Issue is even though you may not die, you can still be a long hauler with a long list of health issues and you can be sick for months! Key is to get 70 to 80 % of population vaccinated to get some kind of herd immunity! Remember this virus is 5x’s worse than the flu!!! www.independent.co.uk/news/world/australasia/coronavirus-australia-state-of-origin-sporting-event-crowd-b1724931.html?amp

Sadly for the U.S., half the population is resistant to getting the vaccine and people don’t wear masks unless mandated (and sometimes still don’t). We could be on the road to recovery, but large gatherings too soon and anti-vaxxers will set that back. Since the U.S. is Duran’s bread and butter when it comes to touring, 2022 it will be.
There is a smallish show (1,500-capacity venue) in April I was supposed to go to. The state’s rules would likely allow it to happen. I contacted the venue and they told me it’s not happening next month. They are working with the band to reschedule for some distant time in the future. Talk to venues and bands and they are likely to be more cautious and responsible about this than public officials. Touring is still a ways off I’m afraid.

If people in my place of work are not wearing masks inside confined areas (rest room, offices etc) they know about it very quickly. Lockdowns work! What doesn’t work is lifting the lockdowns too early! I can collate facts and figures if you need them?
