If they do issue vinyl, hopefully it'll be colored and thematic with the album. I'm dreaming of a pink Medazzaland... That would be great indeed. Just hope they charge a normal price for it, like all other artists do for coloured vinyl reissues.

Gosh no, the cover will be sprinkled with a pink ‘substance’ . The idea is to split the shrink wrap very carefully and everybody can have a gooooood time whilst spinning the vinyl (if you know what I mean? 😉😉) For the ultimate ‘Medazzaland’ experience it’ll be £500 a copy. 😛

If those DD Fanclub vinyls were more sensibly and reasonably priced, I'd buy those. I guess all we can hope for is that the label sees fit to do more than just a run of black vinyl. I could see Medazzaland as being multi colored and Pop Trash could work with a bubble gum pink vinyl or even something akin to the glittery silver vinyl that was used for ABBA's reissue of the Happy New Year 7" in 2011 (see here www.discogs.com/ABBA-Happy-New-Year/release/3269427).

I have one or two colored LPs with glitter pressed into them. That never seemed to take off. Wonder if it's a risk - bits of plastic glitter sticking out of the vinyl.
Anyway I always envisioned Medazz as a hot pink LP (like the CD tray) and PT as clear vinyl with some glitter pressed in. Ok BMG, you have my notes, make it happen!

Just hope they charge a normal price for it, like all other artists do for coloured vinyl reissues. vinyl is going for a premium nowadays, and colored vinyl even more. what is 'normal' for you, isn't normal for everybody. yeah, if its some super limited, super deluxe vinyl factory version for hundreds of dollars, most people wouldn't want it. but if the recent colored reissue of 'duran duran', and the live albums are any indications of price, why wouldn't you buy it. how many times are you actually going to play it, and most people that collect, buy it and leave it sealed (like me). so it really doesn't matter if it's colored vinyl or not. people will just get the download codes, and listen to it that way. either way duran still gets some profit. same with the duran fanclub releases, everyone complains about the prices, but so what, they are high quality, quite collectible, and will outdo pretty much anything official that the band will come out with. so you're the one missing out, if you think that vinyl is overpiced. later -1

If I haven’t managed to get the coloured vinyl and I bought the black instead there’s a problem. I know it’s not colour and that would annoy me greatly! I did this with The Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge live. You may know the cover? Red, black and yellow swirls? Well the vinyl was available in black and red and I missed out on the red. So I opted for black and... aghhhhhh!! But you’re right about the quality of certain bootlegs. They can be infinitely better than any official release with regards to design and presentation. Pegasus is the first that comes to mind. As for official coloured vinyl I am ok on paying £20/£30 for a single LP but I am very shrewd on who the artist is.

Great write up @skinburn and spot on context for Medazzaland’s release.
Having said that, I like it better than The Wedding Album. No doubt we will disagree, but such is the beauty of our fandom. Big Bang Generation and Midnight Sun are all time DD favorites of mine and I like both better than pretty much any track on TWA (granted, I am sick of OW because I have played it to death). Electric Barbarella is the closest any DD song from ‘86-09 got to the “classic” early sound. Be My Icon kicks ass. OOMM should have been a hit - a natural mid tempo successor to the OW power ballad. Michael is a beautiful ballad. I didn’t much care for Silva Halo until I heard it live at the 2001 tour - it was actually ready good. The title track suffers from SLB’s writer’s block - a shame because it’s a great piece of music with a signature JT bass line (one of the 4 songs he co-wrote before leaving). Undergoing Treatment is the closest the album veers to funk, and it’s a great album closer with a biting lyric. So Long Suicide is a powerful song and (to me) the lyrical sequel to OW.
There is a chunk of TWA I find forgettable - Drowning Man, Shotgun, Femme Fatale, UMF - and another chunk that is good but not great (TWIMC, Love Voodoo, CU, Sin of the City*) I like much more of Medazzaland and it holds up way better to me than TWA (and I have played both to death).
Anyway - glad to see Medazzaland finally available.
*I know Sin of the City is sacrosanct on these boards. All I can say is...I like it just fine, but I don’t love it.

Rather than sacrosanct, its more seen as being over indulgent. I like Johns funky bass line, and the song could have been a real toe tapper. John tried to remake the song with Terroristen; where it developed into a more Smooth Jazz Lounge song.

i can't stand this album, and i got it relatively soon after it came out in the US.
I loved the out of my mind single, and thought finally, it was a new direction for them.
electric barbarella was ok, but predictable.
boy was i disappointed, and still am to this day. but little did i know about pop trash, and the reason i felt this way, was that i knew thank you sucked, just due to the song selection, and i didn't have any hopes for that. i kept thinking things were going to eventually get better.
but this pretty much killed off any more anticipation for duran duran albums.
i'm still waiting even now.
