Good on Paul Young and the Pacaminos although £20 sounds steep for what is a virtual show. Shame about his voice too. Why Duran isn’t doing something like this I don’t know. We don’t need some fancy light show or gimmicks. Just an hours worth of some deep cuts and a few hits (leave out HLTW and RIO and no f@cking White Lines either!). I’d quite happily cough up a few quid for such a show. Maybe it’s logistics (isn’t JT in the US?) but that’s not prevented other artists from playing virtually. In terms of product, their marketing strategy stinks. Most of the r.e.m.a.s.t.e.r.e.d albums (it’s not letting me spell it!) have not been done well and we have yet to see anything repackaged from Liberty onwards. I mean, The Wedding Album’s silver anniversary has come and gone which was a lost opportunity (silver vinyl?). No decent live albums for years (ADITM is garbage if you ask me, I prefer the Rome “bootleg” they did). MTV Unplugged was pencilled in for release back in the day but was canned yet we all know it was a pretty good show. No box sets. Talk of an anthology has been doing the rounds for the past 15 years or so, but we’re nowhere closer. They bang on about the “brand” yet have little to show for it Don’t forget that will be £20 *per household* - if you have the right set up of course. Additionally, I expect a percentage of that will be going to the crew. PLUS it’s something to look forward to! Eases the mental stress. We all NEED something to look forward to. Well, we all know why there isn't a lot happening in DD land. I’m just tired of repeating myself.

I agree DD should be more active during this "anniversary". Why can't they own it, regardless of the world situation? Sorry they can't do the typical album release plus tour right now, so try another approach until they can.
Anniversary of an album or single? Release a limited edition something in vinyl, CD and digital or demo or remix. Not a tweet or FB post. Not "What's your favorite? 'but "What do you think of this new or unreleased song?" I recognize physical releases may not be profitable, but they show a pride in ownership that I would respect (and likely purchase). I thought they appreciated it, regardless of popular opinion.
Historical occasion of JT/NR meeting or Roger or Simon joining? First TV appearance? Anything really. Release a video interview (even Zoom) between those involved. It"s fine that it may have been covered already, the moment is worth repeating.
I don't think DD have done nothing in the past two years, but it's felt quite light for the moment. Five Years was great, but why not a physical release to give it permanence? I'm sure once things get rolling I'll feel differently, but they could do better now. Is it their management or contract limitations? No idea, but still it feels empty.
Small overtures to dedicated fans are not outlandish asks. Other bands are doing it better.

It’s good to see that more and more fans are becoming frustrated with the lack of output during the pandemic. If anyone associated with the band is reading this, maybe they’ll take it to heart. But it’s likely too late. Still, may as well try to do *something* with shows unlikely this year.

Should have stuck with Tommy Manzi (Left Bank management) - responsible for the 1993 comeback. It was they who delayed the release of The Wedding Album in 1992 as they were not happy with the PR. Had DD’s best interests at heart - because they were getting well paid to do a job. Magus are probably getting chicken feed in comparison. The difference here is that Left Bank were pros. You get what you pay for. Tell you what, there would be none of this amateurism if Left Bank were in situ - mind you, it’s now called The Umbrella Group.

This band have blown it as far as I am concerned. This year should have been - if not a HUGE 40th anniversary celebration (I get it - pandemic and inability to tour) - at least some crumbs for the fans. That we’ve had next to nothing in years now just shows the incompetence of management and the band. Would it have been that difficult to commission a remix for an early track, to finish an old track, to release some sort of special edition of something, anything? But no. The fans sit and wait until they’re good and ready - which - increasingly is almost never.

New management is needed, I recommend Angela Becker - Manager for the Pet Shop Boys, she has done everything right since they hired her in 2008.

And it was only a couple of years back PSB rereleased the entire catalogue as ‘further listening’ CD sets. Excellent value for money. I bought all of them! 😁. They’ve also put out a few books and Blu-rays. But yes, let’s interview her!

I would much rather have physical releases/box sets/ whatever, but if the band isn't willing to take the time to carefully curate something, I'd be happy getting soundboard quality downloads of concerts from the vault. They could charge and make $$$ and I would gladly pay. I would kill for a soundboard recording of Box Full O'Honey--how about offering the RCM Broadway show for download? Likewise, how about something from the Pop Trash or Up Close 2000-2001 era? Dave Matthews has the Live Trax series of shows from every tour...RHCP has downloads on their site from tours...how hard would it be for DD to do the same? It would have to generate a little revenue, and it could keep fans happy. Heck, they could add a commentary track or something (similar to Live from London) if they wanted to. Someone alluded to the Rome show earlier in the thread--more stuff like that. How hard can it be?
In terms of new music...the core lineup of JT/RT/SLB/NR needs outside help to write full albums. They needed Nate Hills/Timbaland/Timberlake on RCM, Ronson on AYNIN, Hudson on PG, plus some Dom sprinkled in where NR allowed it, er, I mean, on certain songs from AYNIN and PG, plus Nile Rodgers on some songs, etc. So my expectations for new music during the pandemic were low. I just hope they haven't overproduced the sh*t out of the new album during these slow months.

It’s not 2003 anymore and even the official bootlegs from TheMusic at the time eventually went for $7.95 per double album a few months after the initial $25. We need physical product but as long as DD are the bussiness they are, they will not care for pocket money from physical releases, they only care about tours and merch income. They will certainly not release live shows from the Pop Trash era. Why sponsor a former bussiness associate that has not had a role in the band for 20 years, half of the current bussiness partners would veto that I’m sure. Only NR would be really in favour for such a thing.
