I'm pretty sure we covered this one other time but I want to ask you all what you think about this again.....
I have a casual friend who is having her SIXTH baby and it's her 5th girl and she's having a baby shower! SO! To be nice I got her a really nice soft blanket...I mean, her youngest girl is all of 3 years old and her last baby is a 22 month old boy...I figured she had enough clothes. Anyway! Should she even be having a baby shower at this point? Isn't there some kind of unwritten rule about that?

I always thought it was one per customer! The only exception I've seen to this is a large gap between kids. My mom had almost 10 years between my sister & brother. She had long got rid of everything thinking she was only having 2 kids and then SURPRISE!

I could see that. I mean like if I were to have a baby now, being it's been 15 years sence I've had one OR if I just had a girl and I was now having a boy...I could see having a baby shower but, NUMBER 6 after having four girls already?

yeah, that's asking a bit much.
*edit*
from emily post:
Q. Is it proper to give a baby shower for a second baby? Some say that baby showers should only be given for the first born.
A. It is all right to have a baby shower for a second or third baby, as long as the guest list is comprised of guests who did not attend a shower for the first (and/or second) baby, with the exception of close friends and family members who would be upset not to be there.
so i guess you're in for as many as you like! i think a regular old party would be better anyway. it's also a bit unfair to those who don't have kids, dontcha think? remember the sex and the city episode?

That's what I thought, only one for the first baby. I gave a token gift to my sibs when they had their second, plus a present for the older kid, but there was no shower.

people expect waaaay too much these days. In my opinion, it should be up to you if you want to get some kind of gift like a keepsake or something. When my friends have babies I do something a little different. My mom knits beautiful Christmas stockings (I know you don't do the Holiday thing ) with the babie's name knitted into it and that's what I give my friends if they celebrate the holidays.

That's cool Sixth, like I said, I wasn't really sure what to get her so I though a nice blanket would be okay.
