Beautiful Colours - it just doesn't quite work does it? There's some nice elements in it, but it's about one minute too long, and V1 sort of crashes into the chorus and the change makes little harmonic sense. V2 by contrast has a neat bridge that I really like. It's understandable why they considered it for the album, but also understandable why they dropped it. I think the bridge was lacking a bit on BC. Maybe it needed work, but that didn’t stop the band from playing it on tour circa 2004-05, and lending it to that FIFA video. Hopefully they “fix” it for the anthology without f***ing it up!!! Do not agree, but a matter of taste I guess. BC for me is in the top 5 of DD songs since TWA. Not a single note is wrong and it's certainly not overlong. Back to Invisible the new single. I very much hope for a physical release on 12"...

so what do we hope for? what do we expect? personally, i hope "invisible" is an uptempo pop track - something like pressure off - including some rockin' guitar :-) but maybe it's a melancholic ballad... invisible... inspired by the whole covid tragedy... Ugh please no in the ballad about covid..... I’m for the uptempo pop rock track esp since May is the start of summer it would be nice to have a “ roll down the windows” type song vibe. Album in October and single this May....I expect the rollout to be similar to PG where we get about 2-3 songs released before release.

All good stuff but I’ll let RTM recommend. I’d go for Parklife as the first listen Well, I was been polite - but hey, f___ it, if you’re making suggestions Oak, I may as well chime in! Parklife obviously the breakthrough album - but I’ll go for The Great Escape due to ‘Stereotypes’, the leading single ‘Country House’, ‘Charmless Man’ and the oh so addictive ‘The Universal’. Best album cut for me would be ‘Fade Away’ due to its nod to Specials territory. Duran Duran really have something special in Graham.

All good stuff but I’ll let RTM recommend. I’d go for Parklife as the first listen Parklife's a great album. Girls and Boys has a very John Tayloresque bassline (was even introduced as such by Damon Albarn) and was a big hit in the UK. Trouble in the Message centre is a favourite of mine. Occasionally Albarns' faux cockney accent can be a bit grating, but in the Blur v Oasis stakes, I was very much in the Blur camp. The Great Escape has its moments too, but I find the richer a band gets, the worse their music gets. There's a music journalist who claims he can tell just by listening to an album when they bought their first Country House. Speaking of which, that's also the title of a hit from the Great Escape. I digress....

If they have revisited the Astro sessions, perhaps Andy is ok with them releasing Reportage? Only joking.
We know the best tracks are always left off the albums, so this is all sounding very positive.

And which tracks/albums to avoid? My Favourite Blur tracks: Tracy Jacks, Parklife, Bank Holiday, Girls & Boys (all on the Parklife album) Other fave tracks: The Universal, There's no other way, For Tomorrow, Advert, Song 2, Beetlebum, My personal favourite album of Blur is '13' which has some really special gems on it: Tender, Coffee & TV, No distance left to run and last but NOT least: my all time favourite Blur track: 'Trimm Trabb' All their albums contain treasure and they really go out of the box. I recommend you to fully explore and go on a Blur treasure hunt yourself and find your own faves in time. Enjoy the Trip!

And which tracks/albums to avoid? Sublime. This is a low. My terracotta heart. Coffee and tv. He thought of cars. Sing. Bad head. Most of the tracks on the magic whip. Punk. Pop scene. Coping. Trouble in the message centre. Upbeat. Entertain me. (I like the sad ones more, prob not your cup of tea though😉). Gorgeous solo cover of in my room.
