It’s a valid point though. BC has a very ordinary melody and the bridge is nothing too spectacular to write home about either. If you compare it to say songs like Rio, HLTW, OW, Come Undone, Sunrise etal; they have that middle eight that builds into something really special - to the point you are urging it to happen. Then the goosebumps take hold and you can really feel it. It’s why Sunrise was a hit (no matter how cheesy the lyrics are, cheese sells) and why BC wouldn't have been the great comeback single. It was the right decision to drop it.

It think the song has its "legacy" just because it wasn't released. We can all dream about what it would or could have been.
I like it for what it is. Same goes for Salt in the Rainbow, the greatest DD song which was never made..

The live version of BC has been pulled from YouTube which is real shame as Andy’s guitar took it to another level. He added grit and toughness to a very “poppy” song with a somewhat corny sentiment. Nevertheless, the chorus is an all timer and it deserved another go from the band, Andy or no Andy.

I love all the Astro demos. ShutterHaze - Are you going to make posts for all of the songs you dont like? Why not just make a list.

As for the lyrics being drivel....it’s a Duran Duran pop song, so I’m not sure what one should otherwise expect.
I don’t want this to be taken by an ‘Andy versus The World’ comment, but I found the live version to be more inspiring, with the heavier guitars. Wish there was a soundboard quality version of that available.

Any reason why live was taken down but recorded is still there with a million different versions?

Agree about the live version being better with Andy's guitars being a little edgier.
BC not being on the album was a very poor decision and would have made a good first single (also how did Northern Lights not make PG?)
When the 5 got back together the world was waiting to hear what the kings of new wave would come up with...especially since it seemed every newish band was copying that sound at the time.
You could feel the air go out of the room when people heard Sunrise.

BC never made it past the demo stage. There's some good potential, but it is clearly unfinished so it is difficult to judge it one way or the other.
Most of the PG bonus tracks, aside from Northern Lights, feel unfinished as well. I think they could have been so much better had they been properly mixed. I think Cinderella Ride could have been a classic had the band spent a little more time on it.

Duran Duran spending even more time on songs is not something the world needs.

Duran Duran spending even more time on songs is not something the world needs. ...Not this late in their career anyway. Besides, we’ve heard the album. What’s the point in trying to improve it? It’ll take another 5 years. Maybe they have revisited it and I’ll fall over with shock.
