Just listened to the whole RCM album in my car on Spotify. Cry baby cry really stood out, what an amazing track! Especially production wise, it sounds much better than say The Valley (like the song but the bass solo wasn't very well produced). Does anybody know what may have caused the difference to my ears? Did the band produce CBC themselves? Different producer?

Being the extra track, things were more relaxed and less contrived at the production stage I guess. The result is a track that sounds like organic music.

I just gave that song a listen, I like it better then most of RCM. I can't help but wonder what the music would sound like if Duran gave themselves a 2 month recording limit for making an album. I'm sure it would be so painful for them, but I bet it would sound good. Just think of much more more music we would get lol. Instead of scrapping and restarting albums, they really should just release instead of scrap. Could someone let me know if Cry Baby Cry is their own original material, or is it a cover?

Another song with single potential buried as a Japanese bonus track. I am in the minority here but I thought Nate Hills did an excellent job production wise. The Timbaland stuff always struck me as pre-fabricated and could have gone to any client, even if Nite Runner is a banger.
Had I run Sony at the time, Nite Runner would have been a lead single (great exposure with JT and Tim), Cry Baby Cry and Tempted. Are they classics? No, but they are bangers that would have opened up a whole new audience for DD.

Tempted doesn't get enough credit IMHO. Great track. no guitars though

I detest RCM the album, have tried to listen to it multiple times since its release, but the poor songwriting and contrived production make this a low in their career. And I am really a fan of pop in the pure (British) sense and of Justin Timberlake's solo work. None of the songs on it work, the only song that is just listenable is Falling Down (but it will not make the upper half of my list of best DD songs). RCM may even be worse than PT on which they at least tried without the help of others (well, there was Warren of course), and that has *two* barely listenable songs (Someone else not me and Pop trash movie). But I do like CBC, which I do not associate with that album, even though it was a bonus track.

Fun fact: Back in 2007 when I played Red Carpet Massacre for my wife, after a few songs in she simply said "Oh Honey - this is terrible". Thankfully I had Cry Baby Cry as the last track in the playlist. When it came on she said "Well at least this song sounds like Duran Duran". That was the best thing she could say about the album. Some albums sound like Duran Duran, and some don't. The albums that do - ROCK. The albums that don't - sink like a rock. Let's hope Invisible sounds like Duran Duran
