Haha, that's a great quote! The difference is, of course, that Big Thing had incredible tracks like I Don't Want Your Love, All She Wants Is, Too Late Marlene, Do You Believe In Shame, Palomino, Land, and The Edge Of America. I absolutely love I Believe / All I Need To Know, and actually think it is one of Duran's greatest ever songs. But I can maybe sort of tolerate it not being on the album, as at least MOST of Big Thing is pretty damn good anyway. It just would have been even better with IB/AINTK on it But RCM doesn't contain anywhere near the number of quality tracks that Big Thing does. So for that reason it was a bad idea to leave CBC off RCM, because leaving a great track off an underwhelming record stands out like ... View Attachment Omitting CBC from the ‘official’ album was totally the right thing to. It would be like including ‘Breath after Breath’ on The Wedding Album. Oh, wait... Wash your mouth out Skin, BAB was a superb track! Blew me away when I first heard it! Could of done with an edit though, as could have Love Voodoo and Sin, I’ll concede you that.

Lol Nile Now, where did I say it *wasn't* a superb track? Listen, It’s a brilliant song. I love it in fact. But it wrecks the flow of TWA. The guitar work is stellar and it really provided DD with kudos and credibility. So to place it amongst songs that are beat box led, live drums, rock, pop and guitar riffs was just a travesty. Why did they think that was a great idea? It could have been a single in its own right. In fact a promo CD single was pressed in very small quantities. It was going to get a UK release but got pulled. It’s just not a Wedding Album style of song.

I'm a fan of stripping albums back to 9 or 10 songs, and with TWA Breath After Breath would be one of the first to face my axe. Not because I think it's a piece of rubbish (I don't), but because it doesn't fit the ambience of the album and gets in the way of the flow as you rightly say. Not sure what they should have done with it instead though. Standalone single perhaps? It's too good to be consigned to b-side or bonus track status.

That was what I was looking for..and failed! I would have liked to have seen it be used for a movie soundtrack - a chick flick or something. As a stand-alone single I wouldn’t know what year it could have slotted into easily. Before ‘Thankyou’, or after maybe? Whatever, I think it was wasted - just the same as countless album cuts I could mention. I mean, there was even a video filmed for it! It was primed and ready.
