Talked to skinburn in the 90s and very likeable but think
hes v unfair on DD's mgt. DD have not had a hit for years and even the reunion album was lukewarm. Despite this DD get way more coverage than they demand.
1 ITV audience with primetime for AYNIN
2 HYDEPARK stadium headline
3 Olympic headline spot
4 us arena tours
5 headline spots at major festivals
6 BBC 4 full coverage for a night
7 loads of prime time interviews on US and UK Tv
Not bad for a band whose last decent hit was 1993 and album with any major sales.
As for the teaser on facebook, its just a teaser. Lets wait and see the real thing.
Agree the album art, collaberations and delays can be a pain and in agreement re this.
Overall i think mgt of DD for primarily an 80 s band is superb. DD NEVER crossed over decades other than 93/94 like depeche mode or had their euro following.
If you compare duran to their contemporaries, i think the do a good media job. Pretty sure paper gods cover art was a warners idea - trying to hark back to all their big hits but with a new album. While the artwork was crap could see the theory behind it.
The do need a strong filter though to stop crap like bedroom toys and dancephobia ever making the cut.
Rant over but kudos to Wendy, i think she does a good job for a band that is basically a retro band. I do concede a new manager may bring in fresh ideas and maybe provoke or challenge the band (esp since Wendy is nicks cousins)
