Check this article out: www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/music/story/2021-07-28/mtv-40th-anniversary-billy-idol-go-gos-huey-lewis-reo-speedwagonQuick observations: 1) Michael Jackson & Madonna are credited with helping MTV break out and be successful: 2) DD gets a passing reference in the beginning; 3) Wonder why they interviewed Huey Lewis & not DD?!? DD has sold 150 million records!!! Admittedly, only about 13M in the US, but still…! Oh wait - because Sports and Fore! were both bigger than any DD album in the USA!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣…and DD never had an American hit bigger than “The Power of Love” 😂🤣😂🤣 Over to you, andre005 !!! Sorry, couldn’t resist…

Are the 150 millons correct by the way? Or taken from the air?

DD has sold over $100 Million! Huey Lewis and the News!!!! No comment!
Madonna and MJ NOT in the beginning it was Duran Duran--well according to the new book out..lol
Here is a private story about Huey Lewis.
I had a female friend who worked room service at a hotel where all the rock stars would spend the night before and after gigs.
She was very gorgeous. She brought up Huey's food and he was in a bath robe. He told her to come in and bring in the food. He tipped her but it wasn't very generous and he then literally took off his robe and told her to come over and join him on the bed!
She politely said NO and said I have to take care of other customer's..she said he was very pushy, arrogant, and very full of himself....she wasn't impressed to say the least! Now if she had gone in to Warren's room with all the Christmas lights and nudie female pics..I think she would have been more offended! Morale of the story...Huey Lewis was/is a scuz bucket!!

Are the 150 millons correct by the way? Or taken from the air? The current, quoted number is “100M” by DD. Which I think is ridiculously overstated, when they have sold less than 20M in the US per RIAA…but what do I know…

Which I think is ridiculously overstated, when they have sold less than 20M in the US per RIAA…but what do I know… It's 100 million...I verified it with Billboard magazine--I mean they would know right? I think its not just records and LP's but I think maybe "other things-maybe includes singles concert tickets? But back I would say 15 to 18 yrs ago it was 70 to 80 million so 20 million is not out of the ordinary for World Wide sold--not just USA and UK....hey if other artists exaggerate why can't Duran?

Billboard has, indeed, quoted the “100M” figure, but there is no back up or breakdown of that- it’s as if the Billboard writer simply took whatever was in the band’s press release as gospel. Or, if Billboard ever did breakdown the 100M, would love to see that. There are so many ways to go at this. One easy way is to look at the band’s own statements about record sales, dating back to the Medazatrash era (when it was 60M sold!). To account an additional 40M in sales in the last 20 years, you have to believe that DD’s back catalogue is as popular or selling at a rate close to what it did during the the heyday (‘81-‘85). And yet we know they aren’t, at least not in the US, according to RIAA. I know, I know - Sunrise was #1 on some dance chart in 2004!!! And…streaming!! That must be it… I think DD is certainly entitled to exaggerate. I want them to have sold 100M. Just hard when you look at RIAA and see it’s nowhere near that. You’d think US sales would be a bigger percentage of the total…🤷♂️ (13M) www.riaa.com/gold-platinum/?tab_active=default-award&se=Duran+Duran#search_section
