God damn! Nick is not a pianist, he’s a synthesist. A shaper of sound! Ok. Not sure you're point here. As a synthesist there is vast room for expanding one's knowledge and mastery of their skillset. There's lots of bedroom sysnthesists on YouTube who are extremely talented.

They’re all professional pop stars but none of them are professional musicians. JT has grown the most in terms of musicianship by practicing a lot over the years. The rest have to rely on studio technology and precorded stuff for their live performances. The recent performances of Power Station’s Some like it hot by DD are particularly embareasing in terms of live drumming. But hey, even Tony Thompson was not able to recreate that live (watch the SNL live performance, all he does is play the hi hat). Oakey they are still musicians.. whether they have had training or not they play instruments .. they write .. they produce and they sing .. Jt can play the bass and Roger can drum .. Nick is a different story but Simon is a professional singer .. he sings for $$$$ so not sure what you mean .. Billie Ellish can’t read music .. many musicians can’t does that not make them professional musicians? Duran’s strength has always been their guitarist . Andy .. Warren and Now Dom all are great in their own way .. if anything we all know that what has been missing .. great strong riffs to go with Simon’s lyrics!

Professional as in trained or skilled, you know what I mean by this. Actually, not... Compared to Tom Jones, then all male pop/rock singers wouldn't be professionals. IMO, professional is someone who does a job that people usually do as a hobby. That's all. Technically people pay lots of money for them to play. Therefore they play as a profession, hence the term professional. I understand what you're saying but they are professionals and shouldn't be discredited otherwise. Edit: Sorry Max, quoted the wrong post

Definition of "Professional"
engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as a pastime. "a professional boxer"

Edit: Sorry Max, quoted the wrong post Sorry, not a native speaker of English but you are all correct. Skilled is the word I should have used. As opposed to trained (Elton John is not a trained pianist but a very skilled one). I don’t see why people are so offended when their skills as musicians are being discussed. Yes Simon had vocal coaching but he also uses autotune and prerecorded OW parts these days. And Nick is a synthesist and shapes all sounds creatively, but het neither plays his keyboards nor programs the synths (that is what their programmer does). And Roger can keep a steady disco beat which is fine for most DD songs, but all percussion parts are either prerecorded live or played by a percussionist. I do think JT has received more training than just Bernard. I love them anyway.

Best performance at Coachella by a mile that night ! Put Kanye West and Strokes to shame that evening !!!! Roger banging the crap out of the drums !!!

Dom is not a member and AVTAK is almost fully prerecorded, as are the drums and Nick's synths in The Valley

No skill here by Dom, Simon and John? In the Valley that last 2.37 is NOT all prerecorded! They are really jamming!

Oakey..I don't hear anything prerecorded here. Do you?
This is jamming before a concert...got that Duran Duran Jazz vibe with their rhythm section..I would say that over 70% to 80 % of bands to recreate their live shows to sound just like the record all have some kind of prerecorded music in Live shows--You do know Depeche Mode does the same thing if not worse?
