We discussing 40 year old quotes now. Wow. Why not post all the artists or songs JT slated in magazines or interviews. It was the 80s. pop rivalry was every day practice. Farout just posted this the other day..it may be old but still newsworthy and relevant to be discussed Professor Hammerhead.. Its the definition of not relevant. Its a old opinion based on what Simon had done to date in 84.. We all know Simons lyrics changed since then but we don’t have a updated opinion from Morrissey. |

I am determined to live another 40 years, just so I can resurrect this thread then. It might be ridiculous to discuss a quote that is almost 40 years old today, but in 2063 it will make complete sense.

Morrissey wipes the floor with SLB, and pretty much anyone else, when it comes to lyrics. Unfortunately he’s also a plonker. he's an overrated crank as a lyricist and an embarrassment for a human being. |

And his early stuff is undeniably woven with humour, self-deprecation, charged emotion. Over-rated = widespread agreement. Certainly doesn’t qualify as a crank in that regard.
