I’m sure I read in Classic Pop at the time of FP’s release that Reportage was included in a 3 album BMG deal, or something similar. What fascinates me about Reportage is that the songs have pretty much been sitting in a vault for 15-16 years. This has given the band plenty of time to think about what is good and bad about these songs and what needs to be done to improve them and make them work. Maybe, the songs aren’t very good and need binning, or maybe they just need a bit of reworking or be re-recorded from scratch or a new producer to come in and give a fresh sound or contemporary feel. I’m sure the likes of Mark Ronson, Erol Alkan Nile and maybe, Graham Coxon have listened to Reportage and given their feedback. As someone who loves FP, I would be delighted if Duran announced they were going to finish off Reportage with Alkan at the helm. I would be interested to hear other’s fans views on whether Reportage should be released as it was originally recorded or re-recorded now with a contemporary feel. I'd opt for as it was originally recorded, with the caveat that some mixing work could be allowed to complete tracks where appropriate. It seems Reportage sits somewhere between being a set of demos and being a complete unreleased album - like an unfinished rough diamond (in the mind), and there seems to be varying reports / opinions as to how close to completion it was. If I was playing "Fantasy Duran Release", I would have it as a deluxe double edition with the main disc as a finished version of Reportage (allowing for some polishing in mixing etc and some filling in of gaps if required), and the bonus disc being Reportage as it was at the point of abandonment. I don't think I would want the whole shebang re-recorded though. We often make the assumption that if Reportage was 90% there then all the songs on Reportage would be 90% there, but the reality could be that some songs were 100% done, with other songs being 60 or 70% done at best, with some missing lyrics and stuff. 💯 agree. I want it how it was left and then happy for a finished/remixed/updated version as a double release (if the mood takes them)

From WHOOOSH!
-Simon is doing WHOOOSH! from Ibiza - recording guitars w/ Andy Taylor for an upcoming DD 'project' -working on from between one and ten songs -Was supposed to be a secret - JT let the cat out of the bag
ADDED: Later in the show they played Andy's song Man's a Wolf to Man - then Simon commented it is great recording with AT again - Andy doesn't just add his guitar part - he tries to make the overall song better

Because he’s the only one with somewhat chemistry with Andy…
Simon is perhaps doing vocals on some of the new Andy Taylor songs (Is there something.. harmonies)

It could be health related. Andy can’t travel, and the others couldn’t be there. Or just have the bare minimum people there to do the work so as not to expose him to anything that could make him sick.

Logistically and creatively it makes sense for SLB and AT to work together in addition to health concerns. In an alternative universe I'd have loved SLB and AT to have made a side project album together.

You don't need an entire band in the studio to record a track lol. You don't even need to be in the same Country. All this reading into things gets us no closer to the truth.
