Gemy, you've been very intense and fatalistic regarding Andy's health with some of your comments: It's a big priority for the band and will probably be released by October. I’ll be amazed if it’s done this year. AT has absolutely no say over what / when/ how this comes out. He’s not a member of DD Disagree. Andy has nothing to say about Duran Duran albums in which he has not participated nor does he have any songwriting credits. This is not the case with Reportage. Check this out: duranduranboard.proboards.com/thread/33353/reportageAdditionally, although I am not able to find it, the songs (and their authors) are registered in ASCAP. In addition to this, Roger has made it clear in recent interviews that in order to publish Reportage, EVERYONE must agree (including Andy). It is perfectly possible to create a contract with legal terms in which Andy is treated as a full member, ONLY for this album (if this is what all 5 want, and all seems to hint that this is the case). He is no longer a member of the current Duran Duran, ok. But he is a member of the Duran Duran that wrote and recorded Reportage, so he has exactly the same rights on this album. Not just morally, but legally. If not, this album will never see the light of day. That said, I really hope they release it soon. It´s long overdue. *Edited: I found some examples www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/883725552www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/883725556www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/8837255171/5 of the writing credits and he has no say? Don´t think so

Gemy you’ll agree anything that has Andy in a good light. None of us really know the legal terms on which he left. Two options I think- 1 when he left the partnership the legal settlement included giving up the rights to all unfinished material, but it would be factored into the sum he got 2 when he left he got a smaller pay off but a promise to keep his writing royalties? Both mean he gave up any creative control or business control and I’d guess that is likely. In 2007 Andy may have decided to sell over the rights if he got more cash up front , he’d have hardly expected DD to revisit the material decades later? Of course another scenario is that he was happy to walk away without the debt to the record label. RCM probably lost money I'm not just a fan. I am a lawyer, although there are people here who take it as a joke in order to attack me. And unless Andy has been poorly advised by his legal team, which I doubt, it is impossible to release Reportage without being an official member. Anyway, I do not keep arguing about this. If the rest of the band stop wasting the time and we get Reportage we will see what happens. None of us are “just” a fan. Everyone here is *a lot* of other things. What’s your being a lawyer have to do with anything? Serious question. Not trying to be difficult! From a marketing standpoint, the band/label/management would be fiscally irresponsible (i.e. stupid) to not capitalize on this being the OG five piece. I have no doubt that it will be promoted as such. I don’t need to be an attorney to know that.

If I remember correctly, neither Andy nor Roger were legally official members of the band during the reunion years(2001-2006). Meaning they were not part of the company "Duran Duran". They were hired guns on a payroll and comission. This changed after Andy left.

Yeah that’s true I remember AT complaining that it wasn’t fair Well it was, coz after all, where had he been since 1986 ? While the other three hearts & WC’s heart too keeping DD functional IMO this was fair, otherwise why would it be legally allowed ? Like, How could I help grow a corporation (coz indeed in 85 that’s what DD had become) abandon it then come back to it 17 years later and expect all my entitlement just the same as those who I damaged financially by splitting from them. (& please I’m not having a dig at AT with the above coz RT left too) Anyway in 2001, AT & RT agreed to it so I imagine their personal legal advice was fair enough. AT admits this too in his book if I recall correctly. At least RT was clever enough to stick it out and soon enough make it work ‘equally’ for himself, DD & hence us

Could all of the posts that aren't Reportage *UPDATES* be moved to another thread?

Could all of the posts that aren't Reportage *UPDATES* be moved to another thread? There are no new updates anyway right now and I would not recommend getting news directly from board members anyway 😱🤔

Yes, none of us would read these threads if we were just a fan. As for as DD management, dream on. We all saw what they did to promote DM. Zero. Same with FP. The band made one appearance on the Graham Norton show, and a few online interviews, to promote it. They were top of the vinyl charts for a week, but then they didn't bother to print off any more. I can't actually recall any posters or hype for the band in recent times. I would have them be in the public eye more. Strictly Come Dancing, Would I Lie To You?, Bargain Hunt etc. They should be in the news, launching big boats and books and events and things. Something! But I doubt we can expect even a smooth roll out, as fans will get hold of the music a month before, and share it into oblivion.
