Surprised by this, as I thought DD aren't fond of "retro" festivals or associations there-in. While a good line-up, most of the larger acts listed are retro acts. I don't see any harm in it though.

I know Duran aren't into retro festivals but this is a step up from your normal rewind festival in UK. It's playing the rose bowl in LA to potential 90,000 crowd. And they have the headline slot which means a lot to them as we know!!!

It’s more of a genre festival than a retro one.

Yes, it’s a new wave and goth festival with newer acts like Adult (the only one I know of anyway), and 2000s bands like Interpol and the Faint as well.

Based on the style and lineup of this festival DD should be able to be a bit more adventurous on the set list here.

I'd think they'd be playing at least 3 songs from Dance Macabre, and this would be the perfect show to pull out Lady Ice

Well based on last years Cruel World, and just like every Festival, all artists in 2023 performed their biggest hits. And in some cases there wasn't many to begin with (Berlin - Take My Breath Away). ABC played all the singles, etc etc.
It might be more of a Goth crowd, but 9that doesn't mean the 70,000+ would love to hear Hothead, Night Runner & Shelter. The audience expect the familiar material at an expensive day out! Tickets, add on's, beers, food, merch, parking, accommodation, travel costs, VIP etc etc. And they don't play Rio or SAP or Reflex, or GOF, or OW, and you will prob want a refund. The last time DD went wild at a Festival was 1989 when they played new unreleased tracks, and that happened maybe twice??!!
It will be part of a fairly slim run of shows so I feel you can expect the usual setlist, sans a couple of DM additions. 2 legs across USA in 2023 (40+ shows) resulted in the same setlist night after night after night, in the vast majority of cases.....

Assuming that the Future Past tour is over so I'd guess Invisible and Anniversary & Give It All Up will be dropped from their set. Even with a shorter festival set it still leaves a bit more room for other tracks. Black Moonlight will be in. This festival is perfect for them to play Spellbound. Likewise The Chauffeur.
