meh. it’s fine but not my cup of tea. and i don’t care for the two songs together, there’s no thread that ties them together at all. John Taylor's bass on the 3rd verse of "Lonely In Your Nightmare" is nearly identical to the bass lines of "Super Freak" by Rick James and I'm surprised it took Duran 40 years to acknowledge this.

TBH I hadn’t noticed noticed the 3rd verse being identical to SF
In actual fact I’m not aware that its even a fretless bass in Super Freak If it is ? That’s my bad
LIYNM stands out to me as a DD track coz it’s unique in the way that not many DD tracks feature a fretless bass
Sure Lonely is in the form of a Mick Karn style but then I wouldn’t want every DD track to feature the fretless bass much like the Japan material
must say,
the poetic beauty of LIYNM is something else

For me LIYNM is one of their finest recordings as a band. Rio was the first DD album I actually owned at some point in early 83, having already bought a good few singles by them. I was also a Japan / Mick Karn fan and LIYNM, New Religion and The Chauffeur were the tracks that I fell for. The darker side of the band.
Im not a huge fan of the remake but there still a sound of joy in the new version, as though they are still really enjoying it, so I will forgive them that.

This video imo was always better than the official video..Video #2 Agreed. Beautifully shot and it also utilises the extended mix of the song too, another bonus.
