Often a week or two after the song is first played, that it hits the playlist. That was the case with Invisible, Anniversary and Black Moonlight. Right..But U2 and Cure go right on the list after being released? That is a fair point and I have to agree. Most likely EW will be bumped up to A list next week. Its quite common for that to happen. My guess is that compared to DD, both U2 and The Cure have not exactly been prolific in recent times, so their labels and management try to make more of an 'event' of their first new release in years. They will be throwing everything at it. To be honest I have lost track of U2's career in recent years. I know they played the dome which looked a bit silly and that acoustic album was awful. I can't remember anything much of merit beyond 'Ordinary Love'. The Cure have barely released anything this millennium, although the new single does sound like a return to form. Its not exactly radio friendly. In the UK it felt like BM was the most played new DD song in ages. EW is in the same disco inspired style so hopefully it will do even better. |
