Ooh, that Funk boxed set looks good Crispin. What label is it on? It's on Rhino. It promises a lot more rare stuff than it delivers, but when the familiar shit includes Curtis Mayfield, its hard to complain. And when I want the real, real rare funk and soul, I visit the following... www.earfuzz.comwww.soul-sides.com

Both DD's Singles Boxed Sets George Strait's Straight Out of the Box Aerosmith's Pandora's Box Led Zeppelin (the one with the crop circles that has two of my very fave songs by them: "Hey, Hey What Can I Do?" and "Travelling Riverside Blues")
And I don't have an Otis Redding Box Set, but I do have a double disc set of his.......what a voice.........

Wait a damn minute!! Stuporfly!! I thought I was the only person in the world who had even heard of Gram Parsons! I'm a huge fan of 'cosmic American music,' a term coined by Gram to describe music by the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers and his own shit. The only band who I think have truly hit the mark over the past decade are Beachwood Sparks, who sadly are on semi-permanent hiatus. Their two albums are fantastic, but where it really comes together is on the EP, Make the Cowboy Robots Cry, which is almost perfect in every way. Gram is fascinating, and not just because he was partly responsible for some of the finest music recorded by the Rolling Stones. I could go on... Glad to know there's another Gram fan on the Duran Duran board. It does my heart good.

I've got both Duran sets, as well as some of the others mentioned on here (Beatles Capitol boxes, Police). I've also got Roxy Music's 'Thrill Of It All', The Jam's 'Direction, Reaction, Creation' and Jellyfish's 'Fan Club' (that last one is soooo good).
