Since many are looking for new jobs, let's share our gripes. Here are mine:
Places that don't let you know either way:
I am so sick of this one. I've gone on three interviews in a row without a response. One was only two weeks ago, so this might change either way. The others have been several months. Never received a rejection or acceptance letter/call. One place I was so sure I got. I had all of the skills required. It was in my field. I called them to ask if I got it. The HR woman said she'd have to talk to the person I interviewed with. She didn't know either way, but remembered my name. You'd think after that they'd let me know. Nope. I only know I didn't get it because I happened to read a letter to the editor. It was from the person who got it. The letter mentioned the job title and it was the one I interviewed for.
I have the skill/education/experience, yet I get no call:
This seems to be very common. I've applied to many jobs where I had everything they wanted (and then some). They don't call/email me at all. I've called a few of these places. The people never seem to know why I didn't get a call.
I'm overqualified:
I get this a lot. I've lowered my standards because my job sucks. I've applied for jobs that I wouldn't normally do. Various office positions, for example. Jobs with slightly lower salaries but still above minimum wage. Some I apply at because the company or the position might lead to something better in a few months. I know someone who quit a position to work as an intern to get experience in a field they were interested in. I know many of these jobs I'm overqualified but I'm overqualifed at my current job too.
Jobs I didn't apply to, and don't want, call me:
I get many job calls of this nature. Things like cashier, telemarketer, fast food, etc. It's bad enough I can't find a job with my skills. How is it I am overqualified for better jobs, but not these?
