So I'm sick & tired of my PC. Tired of it crashing. Tired of it pulling a virus just to piss me off even with it having all sorts of protection. Basically sick of having to battle a computer everytime I touch it.
We had an extra MAC that is about 2 years old here at my business & I'm taking it home to replace my home PC. Our computer guy updated everything on it & all that so I think I'm good to go.
Considering I'm a MAC virgin (I also battle a PC here on my desk at work so my hell won't completely go away) I'm sure there are things or quirks that I'll have to adjust to.
Anyone have any advice or things I should know about helping to ease the learning curve??? ;D
Thanks! ;D Tina
ETA: One specific thing I have a fear about doing is attempting to switch my iTunes over from the PC to the MAC. ANYONE have a clue about doing that?

Good luck with your Mac. When I have to replace I'm going Mac too. My last job had Macs. Loved them. Easier to use. Looked nicer. No idea how to use iTunes on Mac. Probably easier than on pc.

Miss Tina! iTunes works pretty much the same on a Mac as on a PC. Not sure about 'switching' iTunes from one to the other. I think you just need to install it on the Mac if it's not already installed. However, unless you have a network setup between the puters to transfer data, I think you will need to reinstall all your tunes on the Mac. FYI, if you convert your iPod to Mac, it cannot be converted back to work with a PC. GREAT seeing you last week!

Jai... You know, I can't seem to actually find my iPod at the moment! Sort of makes that problem moot at the moment doesn't it? ;D I think I'm probably going to have to just re-load all my music from the CD's. Even the stuff I bought off iTunes is on CD in MP3 form so I don't think I'll have to worry about doing the networky thingy...the fact I'm even making this switch is overloading my technology capability as it is!! Trying to actually network & transfer & all that might put me over the edge! ;D ;D ;D I'm quite sure as it is I'll have to have our computer guy come out to the house & tweak things for me. Thanks! It was AWESOME to see you & your lovely family as well last week Ms.Jai! ;D

Cool, what sort of a Mac is it? I have an iMac G5 (made shortly before they switched to Intel processors) and I love it! If you can find a 'Mac for Dummies' book for your model, that would be handy - I have an 'iMac for Dummies' book that I've used quite a bit! Have fun!!

Sue... Model??? Uh, that I have no clue of!! As I mentioned it was just going unused in our computer pre-press area of my business. I've not turned it on yet here at the house. I'll have to wait till the kids go to bed so I can give it my full attention. Our computer guy knows our configuration of DSL routers & wireless network things here at the house so he drew a diagram of what will hook up where & has set most things up in terms of the email so all I'll have to do is follow instructions. I'll wait till the kids go to bed so I can pay full attention to it. Bad I know. I'm computer pathetic really. It's truly sad. ;D

tina just to to the apple menu where it says 'About this Mac' and that will tell you what kind of Mac it is- and what software you have on it, and about the memory, etc.
I have only had Macs and use my hubby's Toshiba tablet every so often. I think going to the Apple store is a good thing. I think everything from your iPod should move to your Mac pretty easily.
hope you are well other than that- I still have tickets to Jingle Ball if you change your mind xo m

advice? Um..... Enjoy being virus free? *LOL* Honestly, like any new operating system you have to explore it and play around with it to understand how it works (and really, that part is never hard ) I could go all techie but I'll just tell you what I tell most newbs; Play with it and get to know it, THEN ask questions. -BOS

I'm thinking of getting a Mac, too, just for these reasons listed. I am sick of battling with my second PC....it's okay for a while but then it throws me a curve ball with its viruses and error messages. The one I have now has something to do with my all-in-one printer not "talking" to my PC. How in gravy am I supposed to fix that?? Google it? Hell no. When they make Google easier to navigate then, yeah, maybe. I don't know what this error message crap means, nor do I have the patience to be bothered. It's not like they write these codes in English. What makes Bill Gates such a genius when Windows is for shit? Please someone tell me as I don't understand!!!
