Today, we're going to interpret the lyrics of the song 'The Uninion of the snake'. As you can appreciate, just the title of the song is quite apealing. What's the message hidden on that sentence? What's his writer trying to express with the lyrics?
Here's what we have to analyse:
Telegram force and ready I knew this was a big mistake There's a fine line drawing my senses together And I think it's about to break If I listen close I can hear them singers oh-oh-oh Voices in your body coming through on the radio-oh-oh
The union of the snake is on the climb Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break through the borderline
Nightshades on a warning give me strenth at least give me a light Give me anything even sympathy there's a chance you could be right If I listen close I can hear them singers oh-oh-oh Voices in your body coming through on the radio-oh-oh
The union of the snake is on the climb Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break through the borderline The union of the snake is on the climb Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break through the borderline
If I listen close I can hear them singers oh-oh-oh Voices in your body coming through on the radio-oh-oh
The union of the snake is on the climb Moving up it's gonna race it's gonna break through the borderline The union of the snake is on the climb It's gonna race it's gonna break it's gonna move up to the borderline

Some people close to the writer have told me it's about Adam and Eve. The union of the snake is the consummation of the coitus of both sinners.

I have an old radio interview in which someone asks Simon what that song is about, and remarkably enough he answers!
He says it's about the thin like between the conscious and the subconscious and how often it's hard to tell the difference.
Don't know if he was funning or not but it makes sense! Well, as much as any of Simon's lyrics make sense... :-)

I hate that song. It's right up there for me in the worst DD songs. The saving grace is the video, which I prefer to look at and not listen to. It just seems to drone on and on and on. Sort of like the thin line between the conscious and the subconscious!

I adore Union of the Snake! I'd have to call it one of my absolute favorite Duran songs of all time. Oh well, variety is the spice of life I guess. It would be an awfully boring world if we all loved and hated the same things.

Tiger Tiger and The Seventh Stranger are by far my favorites on Seven. In fact, I would rank those right up there in my top five, even my top 3.
