I wonder if Andy suspected Timba of stealing material, and that had some factor in his decision to leave. He's a record producer himslf and if he thought Timba was being less than ethical I'm sure he'd say something. The other guys might have taken a "shut up, he's hot right now and you're going to piss him off and we'll get dropped" and he left rather than put up with it.
I do agree that it seems Andy made the right decision in going. Does the band even have any forward momentum anymore? They seem to be dog-paddling in place...

The question is, does Sony want to take the chance that the DD track material isn't ripped off? The last thing they and DD need is flack over possibly copied work. The author of the article urges artists who've worked with Timbaland (like DD) to make sure the work is original. Not sure how they'd know, though... The trouble lies in the fact that Sony seems to be banking on those three tracks to sell the album. If they pull them, there won't be much left to tout, in their view - the reunion's over, the last album sold poorly, and any momentum they had from Astronaut is long gone. My fear is if Sony decides it's legally safer to take the Timbaland tracks off, they'll just shelve the album. Sounds like someone has some inside information?! Would you care to share with us. ;D Sony is a large organization with great attorneys who know the fine art of IP law. If they're nervous they can send the DD/Timbaland tracks through legal clearance. Like they do for other artists. It's very simple. As for the gentleman who states that his track were stolen he can hire an attorney whose well versed in IP law and if and when he hires an attorney they can send a cease and desist order to Timbaland while any details are worked out.

Yeah, I'm with you. Music clearances are no big deal, I've done a them in my practice, and there's a pretty standard methodology of sharing the copyright in songs that utilize digital sampling. "Stealing" music has become so common in these days of digital sampling that there are constant claims of "you stole, no you stole" and most of them are handled pretty quietly with little impact on the career of the producer who stole. Of course, one of the US Circuit Courts of Appeals recently issued a decision saying that you needed a clearance for any sampling, so poor DD, it would be their luck if their producer ends up in a big digital sampling case that finally makes the Supreme Court weigh in - of course, I'd love to hear SCOTUS weigh in, just not in a way that will delay DD's album.

...And by the by, I always thought Nelly Furtado was Portuguese not Canadian Portuguese heritage. Canadian birth.

I agree with space1999, the album seems to be cursed. They should take it to the Pope so he can throw some holy water on it.

Hope it is not cursed, but yes a lot is shattered due to the cooperation with this dude,I want to be friendly but i hate his music, and i figure that it is defenatly not Andy's cup of tea,so good choice.
I just hope the overall album consists of music with Andy imput, and i would have a laugh if one of these songs is going to hit the charts instead of the timberlake one.
Have to say the avator off Tomberlake makes me laugh :good choice ;Dexactly how i feel

Sony wouldn't shelve tracks because someone somewhere "claims" Timbaland ripped them off. 99% of the articles about this event are from the same people..referencing themselves! A tempest in a teapot, if you ask me (which you didn't).
To suggest that Timbaland has given birth to an epidemic of stolen tracks is ludicrous. He's produced/written HUNDREDS of tracks since the mid-90's with no legitimate word spoken of thievery before. If he was ripping off stuff left and right, surely someone would've called him on it already. Sounds like some people on this board are just looking for an excuse to demonize him by suggesting that this is a chronic problem of his when nobody has ever said "oooh, most of his tracks are stolen". Jumping. Conclusions. Etc...
If he has been found to have stolen the track, they'll work up a settlement and it'll be business as usual. Not the right thing to have done (and there could be a thousand reasons why), but hardly earthshakingly disastrous.
Oh...and hi! My first post here.
